Dan Hunter, the man behind the electronic pop project Playradioplay!, once told an interviewer that he'd been able to score a contract with a major label because "I had already proven that kids want to hear my music before they even came knocking on my door." Of course, Hunter had an advantage in understanding the mind of the American teenager, since he was only 17 years old when Island Records signed Playradioplay! to a record deal. Born and raised in Aledo, TX, Hunter began writing electronic music when he took a class in music technology during his early years of high school. Hunter discovered he enjoyed creating music on computers, and put together a small electronic music studio at home, based around his laptop and sequencing programs like FL Studio. Hunter began writing songs inspired by his own life experiences -- the death of his father, his descent into drug abuse, his experiences in rehab, his subsequent embrace of the "straight-edge" lifestyle and Christianity, and his relationship with his girlfriend Madison, all married to slick synthesized melodies -- and started posting them on a MySpace page under the moniker Playradioplay! As word spread on the Internet about Hunter's music, Playradioplay! became one of the most popular groups on the networking site, eventually racking up over 6.5 million plays of his posted music, and Hunter found himself juggling high school with a burgeoning career, playing live shows on weekends (singing and playing guitar along with preprogrammed accompaniment) while keeping up with his studies during the week. Playradioplay!'s independent success led to a number of major labels courting Hunter, but he opted to sign with Island, citing their success with younger acts such as Fall Out Boy, the Bravery, and the Killers. Taking early graduation from high school, Hunter produced and recorded Playradioplay!'s EP The Frequency primarily on his own, which was released in April 2007 through Island's Stolen Transmissions subsidiary, but he teamed with producers Garrett Lee and Lester Mendez for work on his first full-length album, due for release in 2008. Meanwhile, Hunter spent much of his summer in 2007 touring as part of the West Coast leg of that year's Warped Tour. The full-length debut Texas was released in March the following year. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
Ah, screw off. Funny thing about men. They preach that man can do no wrong, and that we can't judge anyone, but if anyone does ANYTHING contrary to what they, they're the first in line to crucify that individual. How's about you mind your own bloody business, and let individuals believe as they want to believe? If this artist wants to believe in God, allow him to do so. If he wants to believe in Odin, or Thor, or Buddha, or Zeus, or any other such god, allow him that privilege!
Its funny how people bash him for believing in God and say he stole his sound/way he spaces his name from NeverShoutNever even though Dan has stated hes now an atheist and stared making his music years before NSN. Facts!
The difference between this band and nevershoutnever is that this kids a little b**ch whos totes into god and chistofer drew is a hippy boss.

Christopher drew???? NO WAY. I have heard ALL of Nevershoutnever's songs as well as Playradioplay, THEY DO NOT SOUND ALIKE. Nevershoutnever's music is more simple
First time hearing him, and I must say I like it. I find it ironic the pattern between the names of nevershoutnever and playradioplay. They also sound very similar.

My first room-mate was from Aledo. Small world! X^D
This page is stuck in the past. Analog Rebellion is Dan Hunter's new stuff. Listen to it, embrace it, and buy the album. Cheap.

"Owl City's better. Hands down." Well duh, but this isn't owl city. =P
It's a whole different style.

Dan Hunter is an atheist--as he clearly states, and goes into great detail about, on his myspace page. The bio incorrectly says Dan "embraced Christianity . " Hahaa.

i love them all! each band has their own uniqueness and its all good! postal service.owl city.hellogoodbye.Death cab for cutie. they are so simlar and so very different too
How do you people get off comparing Owl City to PlayRadioPlay!'s greatness? Don't get me wrong, I love Adam, but Dan's musicianship is just incredible. His music is infused with a great sense of emotion. His songs are so catchy and cover a wide variety of moods and feels. Everything he does is so sincere, from his stage presence to his lyrics to his appreciation of his fans. Sincerity is a hard thing to come by for musicians these days, especially that degree of sincerity. PRP! is far better.
OWL CITY IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!

How come so many electronic bands have one name when it should be more? (Playradioplay, Hellogoodbye, Innerpartysystem...) And Owl City is actually better, I think, sorry Zach
"PLP" is way better thjan owl city. Hunter is a one mand synth machine. He does all the music. The band was added when he was signed. One kid on myspace is how it all began. BIG PROPS!
WOW! the background music is really awesome. I just wish it wasn't an 11 year old girl singing it.....
-WHAT?! It's a 17 year old boy? Then what's with the orgasmic sighs in the middle of the song? Well at least it's not like he has a description where he is quoted making a cocky statement about being too cool for record labels. No one that young with such a terrible voice could be that cocky.
I'll stick to singers who don't have confused gender issues. Hanson was bad enough....
