I always find it hilarious that at the beginning if the song Carlotta is singing in one key and then all of the sudden Christine starts signings and tada! It's in a new key, about a half step lower!

I love this song so much I sing it all the time. It let's me use my opera voice(: I sound like beyonce meets broadway according to my old choir teacher<3 idk but that tho haha
I love Sarah, but (during this song in particular) she sounds like a woman with a fully developed voice, not a young chorus girl still in need of training.
The best, THE VERY BEST! MUSIC AND PERFORMERS ON THE ALBERT HALL 25th anniversary (2011) performance DVD with Ramin Karmiloo & Sierra Boggess in leads. Not a movie, the stage performance is filmed, very well ---blu-ray concluders with reprisals including past Phantoms, casts, Weber & Brightman as well!!!!

who screamed at the beginning???? it scared me when i first listened to this track. creepy. and was that Carlotta singing at first?
i always pictured christine having a really light airy voice and sarah brightman has a good voice but i don't like how she sang this part. she does really well with her solo stuff. It's Time To Say Goodbye was brilliant and her duet with Paul Stanley gives me chills. I prefer Emmy Rossum's voice.

It's impossible to say she has a poor voice. If it doesn't appeal to you, that's okay but there's no need to be so negative, when I'm sure she sings better than all of us. It's insulting to the fabulous music and writers when you criticize the singer of one of the most famous broadway songs. I highly doubt the creators would choose someone who was unfit to be Christine, so have some respect.
go goombah!!!! Unfortunately, the musical was written for her. I think she should have played Carlotta. And Christine is not a show-off because that's how the music was written.
Ugh. Sarah Brightman has such a poor voice. It's a shame that Webber played hardball and would only open the show if she was in the lead. She is the weakest link on an otherwise excellent soundtrack. Her diction is nightmare-inducing. Every time she drops into her throaty falsetto for her high notes I want to cringe.
