Periphery

Periphery started in 2005 as the recording project of guitarist and producer Misha Mansoor. Mansoor, who had made a name for himself in the progressive metal community through his production abilities with his project, Bulb, created the band as an evolution of his earlier works, taking the music out of the studio and onto the road, fleshing out the band with a lineup that includes guitarists Alex Bois and Jake Bowen, bassist Tom Murphy, drummer Matt Halpern, and, after running through a few vocalists, singer Spencer Sotelo. With a sound that pushes at the boundaries of progressive metal, Periphery are at the forefront of the “djent” movement, utilizing detuned, extended range instruments to create a sound that’s as technically dizzying as it is heavy, joining in with the growing ranks of bands that are taking the framework laid down by bands like Meshuggah and running wild with it. Periphery released their self-titled debut in 2010 on Sumerian, then quickly went out on the road, touring the U.S. and Canada, as well as making stops in Australia and the U.K. The following year, the band released their first EP, Icarus. ~ Gregory Heaney, Rovi

Love the music vid for scarlet so funny!
One of my favorite bands by far. They sound amazing live.
Not great, but not terrible. Mediocre I'd guess I would say.
Does pandora even have their debut
Scarlet some reason is my favorite song bu them always gets me and yes bblake1998 they definitely need to
Pandora needs to add the Icarus EP to the discography.
Love these guys so much talent I love the cover of heritic anthem it's sick!!!
Ahhh s**t i still can't get over the part from racecar that was put into ragnarok, I didn't originally realise it but always thought "wow, this sounds familiar"
This band was better when Alex, Tom, and Travis were in it. Casey Sabol and Chris Baretto to my mind were better sounding vocalists, though Spencer has come along nicely enough.

I had the privelege of hanging out with the original lineup a few times, as we lived within a stones throw of each other. Did the lights for their first ever liveshow in Baltimore in the winter of 2006. Since then, my interest has waned significantl y . The musicianship has been phenomenal, and has evolved voer time by le
Spencer kinda drags this band down imo...but the musicianship is outstanding
YES CLEAR IS ON HERE YEEEEEAAAAAH H H H H H I D H U S S S M S K W U W B F
This band is catostrophic , Those guitarists are on their guru s**t.
Great Band. Nuff said.

I love Periphery, been a fan since 2011 glad these guys got a new album out, Clear, (Pandora hello!! Get it on here already!) and I'm glad that this band is earning new fans already. Progressive Metal lives through this band so much /m\
I just wanted to check out a new band & never heard their music but I'm a fan of these guys.
Pretty good never heard of these guys
Really.....a u t o t u n e ? They are just doubling vocals, that's not autotune. Bands do it with guitar too. My band does this, we did it on our last album and are doing it on the second one as well. The only thing I found a little strange is the lack of guitar cabs, when I saw them live they were using axe effects direct lined through the house PA. Which sounded fine because of the venue they were playing at but I can't imagine it would sound all that great in something a little less set up.
rzrap
Great band, every song is absolutely incredible.
they're awesome, I've seen them at the house of blues this past summer!
New to this band but really like them!!!
Its hard to find a bands , similar to them
Ow my feelings and ragnarok>>>
this band is f**king amazing live, that is all i have to say

Spencer hit really high notes when he was singing karaoke... drunk. There's a video on YouTube. Yep, no autotune used guys. Take your false accusations elsewhere.
Shockingly, these guys sound exactly like this live. Spencer blew my mind, I had no hope that he would nail all of these parts but he did. At least at the Palladium in Worcester when my band opened for them at Summer Slaughter last year. My only complaint is that even though there are six dudes in the band, no one sings the harmony parts with Spencer!
Spread the love for metal! \m/
This is purely studio, you should hear Meshuggah live, now that's next gen sheit there!
Just no
Ummm...no
This is what Meshuggah dreamed of aspiring. I'm sorry, But Periphery's guitar attack is next generation.
Mark is dreamy
I got to hang out with Matt once. He was a really cool guy.
Frontman not for tman
Sounds like Meshuggah mixed with Further Seems Forever
good stuff
Pretty impressive, sounds sort of like Tosin Abasi and Frederick Thordendall jamin together with some other buddies ;) Vocals can get a little ear splitting, a little, eh, pop metal, but hey, it's sure as hell isn't all in the for tman! I know, I'm a freakin drummer. Very good music.
Yea dudes spencer for sure is not using auto tune at lol, they just have 2 recording of him singin overlappin eachother, at slightly diff pitches lol, guitars do it all the time...same concept
westend050
Periphery lives!
Haha miss may I if u like this band? Wtf? Number 1 I went to school with the vocalist. True story rise signed them and would not pay for their record so they're parents paid for it!!!! OMG miss may I is sooooooo terrible and 2 outta 5 are complete tools that think they're R the coolest thing out
Sorry to everyone saying he doesn't use autotune. He does. Just a little bit to smooth things out just like anything now a days. Btw I saw them live 3 times. He's solid until he tries to go high... Yea. The wonders of a good studio.
this band is ballin
Another great metal band! On a journey...me t a l in my blood... .______.
Yeeeah so what's next
Wow... that guy from Bulb really turned it inward on himself huh, some sickvmadness
Freaking awesome band! :D
If you look up the studio sessions on youtube, the guy recording spencer is stunned by his perfect pitch and spencer requests they dont use autotune.
I've seen Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Faith No More, Rage Against The Machine, Deftones, The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Mars Volta, Messhugah... I think you get the point. I can not wait to see these guys live =>
Great band. They really know what they are doing.
the instrumental s are way better
