A few years ago, while listening to way too much jam band music, a friend introduced me to Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Being enthralled with the banjo, I began to seek out anything else he had done. This led me to Edgar Meyer, whose musicianship was another revelation: Edgar Meyer, Mike Marshall, Joshua Bell, Yo Yo Ma, etc. A love of jam bands also led me to some of Jerry Garcia's work with "Old and In the Way" and David Grisman. That led me through the Grisman to Tony Rice and eventually Tony Furtado. Having access to the Pandora project is leading me in directions I never knew. Soulive > Jimmy Smith > Keith Jarrett > Turtle Island String Quartet > ???? Who knows where it will go next.
