Pelican

The secretive instrumental art metal outfit Pelican was formed in Chicago by guitarists Trevor de Brauw and Laurent Lebec, as well as bassist Larry Herweg and his sibling drummer, Bryan. Owing a great debt to pioneering forefathers Neurosis and often compared to Boston's Isis, Pelican coincidentally also found a home at Isis mastermind Aaron Turner's Hydra Head Records. After making their debut with an eponymous four-song EP in 2003, Pelican expanded their epic, otherworldly trance-metal with 2003's critically acclaimed Australasia, followed in 2004 by The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw. After heavy touring, the quartet took a much-deserved break. They returned to the studio in 2006 and released City of Echoes in June 2007, followed by the live CD/DVD After the Ceiling Cracked later that December. What We All Come to Need, the band's fourth studio effort, appeared in 2009. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia & Thom Jurek, Rovi

MINDFUCKED.

This reminds me a lot of Mastodon's album Leviathan despite Brann's epic drumming. I'm not necessarily saying these guys' drummer is bad :P Either way this is a great instrumental .
this is great
Reminds me of good alternative metal bands from the 90s like Tool, Chevelle, SOAD, and more. :)
new to this music and fully enjoying it
Oh, man, March Into the Sea is probably my favorite song of all time, by any band, of any genre of music.
So. Good.
these guys are BOSS- no bad albums... and killer live as well.
What an draggy irritating long song March into the sea is. I hope their other songs are better than this.

simple, pure, amazing.
If you like this band check out East of the Wall. Simply Amazing. Don't think you will find them on here though.
A lot of The Fire In Our Throats... reminds me of Floyd's Echoes. Hooked me instantly.
good s**t.
This is true music right here.
A vocal free option here. This is whatever you want it to be. A soundtrack to just about anything (or anyone).

this band gave me an adrenaline high when I saw them live. Absorbed into the music, absorbed into the beauty, and the amazing atmosphere they create. Seriously one of the best shows I've ever been too :D
yo steve your a total a**hole, i don't know what your listening to but the drums definately don't ruin anything, maybe you should listen to all their material before making a judgement off of the two pelican songs you probably listened to off pandora.
AMAZING!
AMAZING!
They are loud Steve, but you gotta admit they are slug metal for real!!!
DIRTY GUITARS ON A SLOW ROLL... I love these guys.
I'd love Pelican, except the drums stick out lick a sore thumb on every song. It's irritating. Sometimes we need quiet drumming to go along with a low-tempo, quiet song. Instead we get this. I want to like Pelican, but the drums ruin it.

Dig it, Dug it, and will foreva Rock it!

They played at the bar I work at, The Blind Pig, with The Russian Circles a couple years back and I fell in love with them! They are absolutely amazing live, cant wait to see them again. We need more bands with talent like these guys.
Dayum, they sound good!
Pelican can distort their guitars all they want, but they can't hide the fact that their music is damn pretty (and that's not a bad thing).
America has plenty of good bands, they just take different form than the greats across the pond. Honestly tho, Scandinavia is stock full of crazy phenomenal bands (mostly Folk Metal and Black Metal) where you have to pay attention to find good American bands.
What we all come to need owns!
