There is a specific story to the song which I won't get into. It involves Eddie Vedder's childhood. You can look it up. Really what this song is about is overcoming obstacles, and through that adversity finding a way to be okay with who you are in the end And as long as you are still alive you can do that.

My fave song off Ten.. Got into PJ quite late in life.. Back in 2001 when i was 17. Was a hardcore nirvana fan so pushed PJ aside. Wish i didnt. Oh well im still alive.
You know I love this song and the band this band was around before my time but still I love them but the point is I don't get this song I mean it's a amazing song don't get me wrong but i just don't the meaning of it
This was a song that my first band tried to cover and did a good job, the jamming ending is one of the most energetic pieces of music, almost like some of the jam bands of years gone by.
