I learned from Pandora that this song (and album) was generated during Paul Simon's stay in England, after the not so well received Simon and Garfunkel album, "Wednesday Morning 3 a.m." (which is still one of my favorite albums of theirs...check it out!)Anyway, I really like the variety in these solo songs by Paul, and plan to buy the CD.
This song is so beautiful! I remember studying it in an english class in high school in the early 80s (class of 83, wild and free!). It was a major epiphany that some songs are beautiful lyrical poems. Peace out people. Namaste'.

That poor Paul Simon. I think he sounds like all he needs is a hug.

it's "garfunkel" by the way. I agree with you though, i really don't like the simon version of "flowers never bend in the rainfall" but the s & g version is awesome.
I love the original version of "I am a Rock" performed by the duo Simon and Garfunkle. But the solo version just doesn't measure up. Don't mess with perfection.
