I learned from Pandora that this song (and album) was generated during Paul Simon's stay in England, after the not so well received Simon and Garfunkel album, "Wednesday Morning 3 a.m." (which is still one of my favorite albums of theirs...che c k it out!)Anyway, I really like the variety in these solo songs by Paul,and plan to buy the CD.
This song is as poignant and meaningful as it was when first released, regardless of the arrangement. Thank you PS, for your many gifts to us all.

this song was done BEFORE S and G performed together. Paul Simon is not messing with perfection he is writing original music.

love this solo acoustic version. kind of haunting.
Agree with the first 2 comments at the bottom of the page. This version is OK, but nothing compared to when S & G teamed up. It's not even close.

This song is so beautiful! I remember studying it in an english class in high school in the early 80s (class of 83, wild and free!). It was a major epiphany that some songs are beautiful lyrical poems. Peace out people. Namaste'.

it's "garfunkel" by the way. I agree with you though, i really don't like the simon version of "flowers never bend in the rainfall" but the s & g version is awesome.
I love the original version of "I am a Rock" performed by the duo Simon and Garfunkle. But the solo version just doesn't measure up. Don't mess with perfection.
