Metalcore pioneers Overcast formed in 1991 in Boston, MA, around the talents of bass player Mike D'Antonio, guitarists Pete Cortese and Scott McCooe, vocalist Brian Fair, and drummer Jay Fitzgerald. The band released its debut 7", Bleed into One, in 1992 on Exchange Records, followed by the full-length Expectational Dilution in 1994. Three more 7" releases arrived in 1995 and 1996, culminating in the Fight Ambition to Kill full-length the following year. In 1998, after a less than successful tour, the group quietly disbanded, splintering off to become cogs in numerous different bands, including Shadows Fall (Fair), Killswitch Engage (D'Antonio), Seemless (Cortese), Transient (McCooe), and Tunnel Drill (Fitzgerald). The band reunited in 2008 for the Metal Blade release Reborn to Kill Again, a collection of re-recordings of band and fan favorites, as well as two brand new tracks. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
IF YOU REMOTELY LIKE THESE GUYS PLEASE CHECK THE ORIG RECORDINGS OUT! (Fight Ambition to Kill)10 TIMES BETTER. These are watered down versions and his voice just doesn't seem as powerful/raw.
Yeah i didn't get why they rerecorded unless it had to do with label/contract/$$$ because there is not one song that sounds better. Fight ambition was great (remains to this day one of - possibly my favorite metal album ) and the rawness suited it fine. Dont hate shadows fall but huuuge stepback from overcast imo. Shame they broke up - and i only saw em once like 15. yrs ago in a warehouse. Missed reunion show.
killswitch engage is awesome now im checking out overcast funny i never heard of them till now??music sounds really good though.. man i miss those pantera days!
So did the re-recording ruin the songs? I've never heard the band before, and as a fan of Killswitch Engage, I though I would check out Mike's old band. Love it so far.
I can't say these songs sound better re-recorded. Fight Ambition to Kill was and is an awesome recording. Still my favorite album. Great band to represent Boston Hardcore/Metal.
