Although technically consisting of five members, Ours is essentially the brainchild of self-described music obsessive Jimmy Gnecco. Born and raised in New Jersey, Gnecco toyed with music and various band configurations after graduating high school, but it wasn't until 1996, when he returned to America from a brief sabbatical, that he decided to pour his complete energy into music. It didn't take Gnecco long to attract industry attention; a major-label bidding war quickly ensued, with Gnecco turning down a few deals on the way to ultimately striking a partnership with DreamWorks. The relationship formed slowly -- Gnecco didn't even set foot in a studio for another year. The task of recording that elusive debut proved to be daunting; with Steve Lillywhite at the helm, it took Gnecco over three years to complete. The ensuing album, 2000's Distorted Lullabies, was met with asterisked critical acclaim; the prevailing sentiment seemed to suggest that Gnecco was almost too similar to the late Jeff Buckley (in voice, style, and even appearance) to properly appreciate in his own right. Two years later, Ours returned to the scene with the lushly beautiful Precious. ~ Mark Pytlik, Rovi
saw them for the first time live at The Walnut Room in Denver. Amazing show, unbelievable band. This band should be headlining shows all over the globe and I was able to stand 5 feet from the stage and have my face blown right off my skull! Gratitude.
I have many great memories of seeing these guys live over the years. Most memorable show to date was the very first time I saw them live. They opened for Powder Finger at the Double Door in Chicago. I was blown away...
Ours is my all-time favorite band. Seeing them perform live has been one of my most cherished memories in my young adult life. Being able to tell Jimmy how his music touched me was the highlight of it all.
Saw Ours in Austin, TX twice... the best 2 concerts I've ever been to in my life. Small venue, nice low ticket price, great opening bands, and of course Ours.

Ours and Jimmy Gnecco--amazing band and lead singer. Gnecco's vocal range is astounding. The almost gothic feel to the music, combined with stellar lyrics makes for a completely riveting experience.
i've been lucky enough to see them four times and they are more incredible each time. the last time was amazing, they headlined at the cambridge room at HOB in cleveland and played an hour and a half set, closing with a 15 minute version of live again... his voice gives me goosebumps, you MUST see them live!

Being from NJ, I have been seeing this band play out since 1992. Jimmy has a vocal range which is unbelievable . A CD barely compliments the notes he belts out. This group is definetly a must see live!!!
Jimmy's is one of the very best voices there ever was, is, and ever will be. I'm lucky to be able to see them this month! Check Ours out if you haven't already... you'll enjoy them incredibly... especially live.
Saw them tonight at the Wiltern LG in LA, opening for Marilyn Manson. This guy has the most amazing voice...beautifully melodic and very mesmerizing. I suggest buying the album and definitely catching them in concert!
yes they are, I see women in the crowd directing his voice with their hands like a composer and director to a symphony. the sound is outstandingly warm and perfect because they work pretty hard to make sure the live experience is perfect. let me know what you think after a show.
