Absolutely nobody plays quite like Oscar!! I listen to O.P. radio for hours and never tire. Sure Ray Brown, and Gene Harris are very good too, but I'm sorry, Oscar just does it for me!
Oscar always knew how to swing, whether playing ten notes or ten thousand. But Basie could swing with one note. It's sad that Oscar never evolved too far beyond his fabulous technique. He had such a huge technique that he never had to dig any deeper, a la Keith Jarrett or Bill Evans. Too bad we'll never know how THAT would've sounded!
His tunes can fly, quite a remarkable artist and completely entertaining.

Oscar Peterson in his lifetime was the greatest jazz pianist of his time. He had no peer or parallel. Now that he is gone to the big "concert in the hereafter",Hopefully someone will step up and try to fill the void for those of us who truly appreciated his work.
