The Oppressed began their infamous career in the early '80s as an outlet for Roddy Moreno, an outspoken advocate for racial unity in the skinhead and Oi! scenes. He formed Oi! Records, a short-lived but highly influential label that served as the outlet for the Oppressed's music. They performed throughout the '80s, but as time wore on Moreno became far more involved in S.H.A.R.P. (Skin Heads Against Racial Prejudice) and eventually disbanded the group. In 2000, the group re-formed, re-releasing much of their old material and working on fresh material under the guidance of Moreno. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi
Skinheads started in the 60's, listened to reggae, hung out with Jamacians and aside from the occasional attacks on Pakistanis, which were motivated by classism(the skins and their Jamacian mates were afraid the Pakis would take their jobs) skinheads didn't become bigots till the mid to late seventies. While SHARP's are reactionary they are closer to being real skins than the neo-nazi boneheads will ever be.
