A Turkish composer and instrumentalist, Omar Faruk Tekbilek later moved to New York. Tekbilek has also worked with Michael Askill on Fata Morgana and has released a solo album of Middle Eastern fusion called Whirling. One Truth followed in 1999. The rhythmic dance collection Dance Into Eternity: Selected Peices 1987-1998 was released a year later. ~ John Bush, Rovi
i was introduced to arabic and middle eastern music through my job as a tv producer for the state department. i work with lots of tv teams from the middle east. when they come to the u.s., i ask them to bring cds for the car. I love this selection!
Amazingly well put together! It's obvious he put serious effort into this. I bought this track over a year ago & play it still as if it were brand new to me.
The initial slow base twange is reminiscent of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ennio_Morricone's famous theme in The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, but then Omar goes to entirely different planet, where everything is beautiful...
Please add the albums: "One" "Dance Into Eternity" "Alif: Love Supreme" "One Truth" "Mystical Garden" and "Whirling" ALL should be added to the Pandora music selection!
I love it. Some of the best instrumental work I have ever heard. Please add more of him, and others in a very similar vein.
P.S. I am sick of hearing the trancy-buddha-break-beat stuff on his station, american bluegrass is more simlar musically to Omar than the yuppy-buddha-downtempo-yoga music.
