Old Crow Medicine Show

Mountain music revivalists Old Crow Medicine Show spin traditional folk and bluegrass yarns with a rock & roll attitude. Critter Fuqua (vocals/banjo/resonator guitar), Kevin Hayes (guitjo), Morgan Jahnig (upright bass), Ketch Secor (vocals/fiddle/harmonica/banjo), and Willie Watson (vocals/guitar/banjo) may specialize in rags, hollers, and pre-World War II blues, but they were weaned on Nirvana and Public Enemy. The quintet's members -- who are all from different states -- met in New York, hit the road, played before an impressed Doc Watson in front of a North Carolina pharmacy, and were promptly scheduled to play the folk icon's Merlefest. Old Crow Medicine Show then relocated to Nashville, where they found themselves gracing the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, opening for the likes of Dolly Parton and the Del McCoury Band, touring with Merle Haggard and Marty Stuart, and appearing on NPR's Prairie Home Companion.

They signed to Nettwerk America in 2003, began crafting their own compositions among the jug band standards and reels that had become the backbone of the group, and went into the studio to make a record with Gillian Welch's other half, guitarist David Rawlings, at the helm. Their self-titled debut, which was recorded in RCA's legendary Studio B (Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings) as well as Woodland Sound Studios (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), arrived the following year. The group's second album, Big Iron World, was produced by Rawlings and appeared in August of 2006. The band then switched producers, going with Don Was for 2008's Tennessee Pusher. Carry Me Back, produced by Ted Hutt, was released four years later in 2012. In the summer of 2013, the band (now an octet) released the three-song EP Carry Me Back to Old Virginia, which consisted of the title track, a newly recorded version of "Ain't It Enough," and a cover of Alabama's "Dixieland Delight." Hutt returned to produce the group's 2014 effort Remedy, an album heavily influenced by folk music. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi

Bob Dylan first then ocms then darious Rucker. That's the order they were made.

Wagon Wheel wasn't written by Dylan, give OCMS some credit. They share writing credits. OCMS wrote the verses - inspired by some B side Dylan jam session chorus they had heard. They filled out the track and polished it.

Anyone heard any other OCMS songs other than dang wagon wheel??? This band deserves more credit than just having one song, written by Dylan and remade by someone horribly mainstream.. Yes we all know about wagon wheel, move on and listen to the rest of the album.

Hootie butchered it... I doubt he even knows the words by heart. Probably just read them as he sang them. The disturbing norm in country music seems to be to take the work of talented individuals, have some lame product-of-m a r k e t i n g , pop star, spew it onto a microphone, then put on a cowboy hat and get their picture taken for the album cover. At least Hootie had the decency not to don the cowboy hat.

I'm in love with both versions

They sound abit different without Willie Watson ... Still love them though

Great music! O¡ from Texas!

This version of "Wagon wheel" is clearly more polished than Dylan's. Kudos for taking on the King and holding your own, OCMS. Love the southern harmonies, fleshed out lyrics and strings: banjo, fiddle.

Omg I love wagon wheel I've been listen to it since I was little

Bob Dylan did nothing but provide the line, rock me like a wagon wheel. Darius Rucker turned it into some pop country crap. Secor's biggest influence is Dylan. Do some research before you make stupid comments.

Darius makes me sick.. and please stop saying "it's Bob dylans' song... just go read Wikipedia before you start typing

Don't read this because it actually works. You will be kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of your life. However if you don't read this you will die in two days. Now that you've started reading this don't stop. This is so scary. Put this on five songs in the next 143 minutes. When your done press F6 and your lover name will pop up on the screen in big letters. Trust me it works.
