On the 10th anniversary of the birth and death of Babatunde Olatunji, we are able to celebrate a man that not only brought African music to America, but an individual that impacted so many lives in a positive way. He broadened our horizons and helped us to feel the unity of rhythm which crosses boundaries and breaks barriers. He brought joy to many lives. He will forever remain a legend in his time.

The purists always have a point and are always, I think, kept a little bit on the margins. I haven't read the liner notes, I don't remember what the artist's original claims were, but a) they were made at a time when we hadn't yet accepted the fact that music, at its core, is an eclectic art form (if it is going to survive outside of a vacuum, it has to adapt and, I believe, it wants to!
