This song is about the actual kidnapping of a 14 year old girl. In 1987, she was returning from a concert in Tacoma, Washington when she was abducted by a man named Gerald Friend. He took her back to his mobile home and raped her. The girl, whose name was not released, was tortured with a whip, a razor, and a blowtorch. She managed to escape when Friend took her for a ride and stopped for gas. He was arrested and sent to jail. (taken from songfacts.co m )

Kurt is not celebrating the atrocity he is describing, any more than any other author is celebrating the murders taking place in a history book. Cobain is forcing those who are curious enough to study his lyrics, to face the evil that human beings are capable of. Too many songs are mindless and about nothing, i.e. Brittany Spears, Beyonce, etc. Cobain is about shocking us out of our complacency and getting to the truth of the horror that might be taking place next door, on your street.
This song is about the torture and rape of a 14 yr old girl... she does eventually escape though... so at least it has a happy ending. Funny thing about Cobain is that so many of his songs have a catchy beat, only to be about something way way worse than most would sing about. The bandwagon fans are clueless about what his songs are actually about... funny stuff.
