Contemporary Christian singer-songwriter Nichole Nordeman grew up in Colorado and was working as a waitress in Los Angeles when she entered a contest sponsored by the Gospel Music Association's Academy of Gospel Music Arts, winning with her song, "Why," in which the crucifixion is viewed by a child. This led to the release of her first album, Wide Eyed, which produced four hits on the Christian adult contemporary charts -- "To Know You," "Who You Are," "I Wish the Same" and the title song -- sold 130,000 copies, and brought her Dove nominations for Best New Artist in 1999 and Best Female Vocalist in 2000. Nordeman followed with her second album, This Mystery, in May 2000. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
Awesome! I love hearing inspirational and uplifting music. I feel the Spirit of God regardless of the singer's religious beliefs. May God continue to bless His children through voices of singers like you.
I was at the concert when she recorded Why for her album, and it remains one of the most powerful spiritual experiences of my life. As a writer, her creativity has been a greater influence than any other.
Nichole is one of those rare, brilliant individuals who share their gift with others, unconcerned with achieving mega-stardom. I have enjoyed her artistry ever since she hit the scene in the late 90's with Wide-Eyed and To Know You; from day one, her style has hit home and soothed my soul. May she continue to be a blessing to all who hear her for years to come.
Nichole Nordeman is my favorite songwriter and vocalist, out of all genres. I don't think there are many that come as real as her. Her lyrics are so real and incredibly intelligent...beautiful, raw poems. I feel like she gives you a piece of her heart in each song she writes. I think her first album 'Wide-Eyed' is my favorite. I listened to that for months on end...and she is even better live, which speaks for itself. Go Nichole! You really are amazing!! Thanks so much for your music!
bravee..my favorite song by her like ever...makes me cryy..

I'm listening to her song What If, which I really like it. It's basically saying, what if Jesus was more than just a good guy, what if he's our Savior-which he is!

I am a huge fan of female artists across multiple genre's, but there is something very special and reverent about Nichole's voice that lends itself perfectly to this genre. I believe that her voice would lend itself well to Alternative Rock ballads, or even some Pop/Rock, and still be appreciated there, but I believe that she has found her true calling as a motivational singer for Christianity. There is something in her tone that is so beautifully sad and inspiring at the same time. Thank you!

This song is so touching. It gives me the chills to think of how desperately poor we are yet Christ pays attention to us like we something special. In our vast He chooses us, a bunch of wandering people to lay His precious life down for. And this song has just the right words and melody to express how I feel. Doesn't it just make you want to cry at the thought of it? :,)
I'm not a fan of Christian female music but Nicole's lyrics are so authentic and her talent so strong she creates music that is on an entire different level. Thank you for fulfilling your destiny!
Nichole touches all all age groups...have loved and been moved by all her amazing songs through out the years. You never get tired of that sweet voice! Her lyrics are very moving and powerful.
Jeremy Masquarade Pease. how can you SAY that???? I mean, you are free to think whatever you want, but why come looking for an artist that you don't like JUST to comment something rude??? And learn how to spell would you? That being said, I really really like Nicole!!!
