Song still applies to today's southern cracker. Where ignorance is bliss and you have sex with sis.

This is a major song that expressed how the movement for the educated youth truly felt!

Neil's the best bar-none

Like the meaning, but like Lynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama sound better. Neil Young IS a pioneer and a TALENT .. as is Lynyrd Skynyrd (too bad they got offended by it .. guess they support the South's vision.

A Southern man don't need him around anyhow.

Hey colegrafx, neil is not talking to every southern man, he is talking to the ones that this song would apply to. If it doesn't apply to you then don't worry about it. But if it does then there is a lesson to be learned. Vital. You can no more blame dogs fir fighting than you can an african from accepting money. But the real wrong is in the dig trainer. The dig don't know any better. Its his nature. Just like a poor africans nature was to accept some bullshit money because it was a means t

I'm from Georgia, and like many of my native Georgian friends and family, I never oppressed anyone, not when this song was written or after it made old Neil his money. Not that slaver and unjust acts didn't happen, but don't lump all southern people together like we're all in the KKK. Maybe Old Neil should have written about how blacks in Africa sold/traded other blacks to be slaves. Do you really think we just went over there and rounded them up like they were cattle?

I love the lyrics to this song but not really the way he sings it. Maybe there's a more upbeat version out there? Skynyrd was offended by this song. Imagine that! I wonder why? The only reason they would of been offended is because they knew the lyrics to this song were true.

Take that, rednecks!

Neil Young.... The pioneer Rebel, the guys had their say...nothin g more to say....... I think It's great.

Canadian's have a right to their opinion. Great sound though as only Neil Young can do. I think you meant their descendents need to suck it up, not their ancestors. I also think it is ok to sing a song about injustices of this world whether or not they are past or present. What happened back then was immoral yet legal. Just like many legal positions taken to this very day such as affirmative action, title 9, and eminent domain. Great tune though eh?

Yo 'churchlady' Pay them Back is the operative term here. B'lee me I don't want to hear it from a Canadian any more than the next Southern man but you gotta love the one note leads that only Neil Young can get away with (**check out 'Cinnamon Girl' lead**) ....unb'leev b l e

Good sound but pretty libtard in imagery. Pretty sure slavery as far as being moaned about in this tune is at least a few generations past tense. Their ancestors need to suck it up and make something of themselves in this land of opportunity, that is before "their president"(Y o u n g Jeezy?) takes that all away and puts EVERYBODY back on HIS plantation. Wake up peeps, the end is near........ . .
