Los Angeles singer/songwriter and guitarist Neal Morse began his musical career early, taking piano lessons at five and performing in musicals and beginning guitar by the age of nine. By the time he reached his twenties, Morse wrote two musicals and played with Al Stewart and Peter White. After returning from an extensive European trip, Morse formed the progressive rock band Spock's Beard with his brother Al; the group released its debut album, The Light, in 1994. In addition to his duties with Spock's Beard, Morse released his self-titled solo debut 1999 on Metal Blade Records, and produced and arranged all of the album's tracks. With 2003's Testimony, Morse began to infuse his deeply held religious convictions into his work, a trend that continued with 2004's One and 2005's ?. In 2006 he collaborated with Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy and bassist Randy George on Cover to Cover, yes, a covers collection. Morse resumed that collaboration in 2007 on his highly controversial concept album Sola Scriptura. In 2011, Morse returned to the story he started in 2003 with Testimony Two, which further detailed his spiritual awakening as well as his decision to leave Spock's Beard. ~ Heather Phares & Thom Jurek, Rovi
When I stumbled onto 'Sola Scriptura' while doing research on the protestant reformation, it was like I had discovered a DEEP cave of amazing treasure! Neal is a compositional genius, an astounding instrumentalist, and his life story is even more compelling than his lyrics. (Read his book!) Be sure to check out his other involvement: Spocks Beard (of course), Transatlantic, and now Flying Colors. If you ever get a chance to catch him live, DO IT! I've seen him twice... hands down, most pheno
Neal is amazing even better now playing with a brazilian guitarrist Adson Sodre, a very good friend of mine. Check him out on youtube or facebook. Thnks y'all... Alyson Oliveira

Neal is my prog rock hero! I'm not a Christian and I own all of his albums - solo, SB and Transatlantic - with the exception of the Inner Circle offerings. I love them all and Testimony 2 is amazing! If I ever get the chance I'd love to see him live.

Wow, that artist description is a mess, Love everything Neal however
There are next to no Christian artists that do anything for me, but Neal Morse is the poster child for the exception. His progressive rock style is reminiscent of Dream Theater to some extent. An incredible songwriter!

I love how Neal's lyrics on his Testimony recordings depict his journey of faith in so real-world terms. Beautiful melodies, inspired lyrics. Absolute joy for any believer who grew up listening to prog rock.
For Jim Wells. I have been a Steve Morse fan a long time...eventually got into Spocks Beard...then into Neal Morse. It is great prog and awsome melodies. He is a great writer of music. Inspiration for sure.
Amen to everything you guys just said! I discovered Neal by accident...I was looking for "Steve" Morse and found a Christian Prog rocker who loves Jesus
I am just starting to listen to him. I read a great article in the recent Goldmine magazine about him. As a Christian I am impressed with his music and of course his belief in Christ.
I have searched for years for someone that loves GOD and plays music at the level he and his musicians do. In a world of Christian pop this Mr. Morse rises to the top.
Yea, where's his good stuff? Neal is an amazing musician, but you wouldn't know by the material presented here. Anyone wants to hear REAL Neal Morse, check out Sola Scriptura or Spock's Beard.
