For many years, Máire Brennan has been the lead singer of the Celtic new age group Clannad. In 1992, she released her first solo album, Máire, on Atlantic Records. Three years later, she released Misty Eyed Adventures on BGM. For 1998's Perfect Time, she switched labels and signed with Word/Epic; Whisper to the Wild Water followed a year later. In 2001 and 2003, she released two volumes of New Irish Hymns, as well as Two Horizons. Irish Christmas arrived in 2006. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
Moya Brennan, also known as Máire Brennan, is an Irish folk singer, songwriter, and harpist. Awesome performance from one of the most beautiful Celtic voices of our time! The virtuosity of Moya and all of Clannad is beyond words!
I must agree with owlroost, the feeling you have is most likely the celt blood in you. Also true is the sadness, when the brits are gone happiness will follow, the violence must stop, we are all human and no one on either side should harm women and children. Talk and not bombs are the answer, you don't have to forget to forgive.
dont read this because it actually works. You will get kissed on the nearest possible friday by the love of your life. tommorrow will be the best day of your life. however if you do not post this comment to at least 3 songs you will die in 2 days. now youve started reading this so dont stop. this is so scary put this on at least 5 songs in at least 143 minutes when if done press f6 and your lovers name will appear on the screen in big letters this is scary cuz it actually work.
Maire Brennan's voice and Clannad stir something akin to ancestral memory in me. Something very ancient and forgotten that comes to the surface and seems so beautiful and familiar...a longing for something I can't identify.
Yes its a sadness only the Irish can sing and bring to their music. Maire has taken a more Christian Celtic approach to some of her music in the past few years.

Beautiful lyrics and the sad Irish undercurrents only the Irish understand. The temp of this song sells it, along with the plangent voice of Moya Brennan.
Walk in the silent whisper of her voice. Feel the mystic winds blow as her melodies resonate with the hidden hues of love and wonder. Her music reaches inside and softly speaks the quiet language of the heart as her words gently stir the hidden reaches of our soul.

I love Enya and Clannad for the most part. There are a few tracks I don't care for; but, overall, I think they are wonderful. I love the Gaelic in general.
I'm really not a fan of her voice or of Clannad overall. This is disappointing to me, because they SEEM like something I should love...

My wife and I got to see her in concert after the release of "Perfect Time." It was this little theater in South Philly, and was an unforgettable experience. She is terrific live!
Because I'm a linguist dork: Gaelic is what they speak in Scotland. Irish is what they speak in Ireland... part of the same language "family" but not interchangable terms. :)
There's two different pages because she's published music under both her original name and her new artist name "Moya" (as PacBat suggests, it was mainly to help people know how to pronounce her name, just as Enya did with hers). She switched her name after publishing "Whisper to the Wild Water".
@takemi.oshiro: It's the same person; Maire is Irish/Gaelic and pronounced "Moya," but people often mistakenly pronounced it "Mare" or some variation thereof; after several years and several albums, she changed the spelling to promote proper pronunciation.
Did you get the first name of this artist correct?? You call her "Moya" yet in the description you have her named "Maire"....do you just have her name incorrect or are these two different people/artists?

I like all of her albums very much!
