Mortification

Mortification is considered by many to be the most extreme Christian band in existence. Formed in 1990 from the remains of a band called Lightforce, Mortification sought to provide a positive alternative to traditional death metal acts such as Carcass, Death, and Obituary. On the strength of their self-titled 1990 debut, Mortification quickly gained a reputation in their native Australia for being one of the loudest and fastest bands around. Their 1992 follow-up, Scrolls of the Megilloth, garnered the band some attention from the heavy metal underground, and contains some of the most frightening vocals ever recorded. Their later albums were more experimental, combining elements of punk, death, and thrash metal; they include 1998's Triumph of Mercy and 2000's 10 Years Live, Not Dead. Bassist/vocalist Steve Rowe has handled most of the songwriting chores for group, and is the only remaining original member. ~ Kirk Dombek, Rovi

I actually really like this. Very raw and un-pollished sounding...a s if they are recording in a stadium instead of a recording studio

Post Momentary Affliction and Scrolls Of the Megilloth are, in my opinion, some of Mortificatio n s best work. I fell away from them for a while, but Relentless brought me back into the fold.

Couldn't leave a track comment for Mortificatio n song "Synchretize " didn't ever see myself liking a "death metal" band, but Synchretize has both understandab l e lyrics, and an idea I've been disturbed by myself, if I hear them correctly: the Enemy, much like the old Soviet Uniln, (who claimed to have invented virtually every advance of man) is claiming all our most joyful words! Not just crystals and rainbows, but the word "gay" the color purple, the color pink, and sullying them. Worth pointing

Not bad!

I have loved Mortificatio n since Post Momentary Affliction (the first metal I ever heard), but the bio writer has no idea what he's talking about. No one considers Mortificatio n the most extreme Christian band in existence.
Report as inappropriate
Mortificatio n is probably the best Christian band ever. They have never compromised their message, and Steve Rowe has continued to put the music out despite numerous physical challenges. God Bless them & keep shaking the heavens and earth with righteously pound aggressive metal

These guys are outright metal straight up no holds barred i just wish the people who call themselves christians would learn to accept the factthat there is a such thing as CDM if you want graphic listen to thier Eternal Lamentation song and listen to the echoes of the flames and screams not the even secular metal has the guts to pull that off way to go \m/ horns up for that
