R&B diva Monifah grew up in Spanish Harlem in the midst of a musical family, who encouraged her to work in several musicals while at an early age. With the experience she gained singing, Monifah signed a contract with MCA and released her self-titled album in 1995. The following year, her single "I Miss You (Come Back Home)" became an R&B hit. Her second album, Moods...Moments, was released on MCA's Uptown subsidiary in May 1996. The Top Ten single "Touch It" made 1998's Mo'hogany her biggest album hit, and two years later she followed with Home. ~ John Bush, Rovi
Memories of times when we had problems, yet, one was able to enjoy life. Music, especially, was a great part of learning any maturing. As a man, hearing Monifa's voice makes me appreciate God' s gift to us men.
Monifah became a drug addict. She will be on a reality tv show with faith evans, keke wyatts, the lady from zhane and my sister Syleena Johnson this coming fall called ladies of R & B. She will speak about her addiction and how it missed up her career.
I so agree with all coments below. Loved her first album. It just seems like if you have true vocal talent you get overlooked. A waste of talent.

I loved Mo! Didn't feel as if she got the exposure she deserved. I often have a Mo marathon and listen to all of her recorded music. Hope she comes back soon!
I ALWAYS LIKED MO BUT I ALSO FELT THAT SHE DIDNT GET THE EXPOSURE THAT SHE NEEDED TO BE IN THE NOW! VOCALLY THE GIRL IS THE ISH, BUT TO ME HER CARRER JUST NEVER GOT WHAT IT NEEDED FOR HER TO BE KNOWN THE WAY SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN BASED OFF OF HER SKILLZ
