So if it was newsted why is cliffs name on the track might had been a little pre recorded and to personal to say yea it was newsted because it was a song for themsellf that eventually got picked almost dead last to go on the album for such reason
Hey miller whatever your name is cliff Burton wasn't even alive when they recorded and justice for all its Jason newstead the last album cliff was on was master of puppets
Definetely on of their best songs, and yes their music did kinda ''fade'' a little, but I think St. Anger is a strong comeback for sure. I am 42, been Metallica fan since they came out.....yeah..loooooong time....I was in 7th or 8th grade I believe. Been too countless shows and they are definetely a steady metal band, of course I am biased to the older stuff, but come on, of course you have to explore new areas, new and better equipment and different stages of their personal life. Still Great!!!
lol, more like bad production. Lars said they were trying to blend the production process of Master of Puppets w/ the sound they got on The $9.98 EP and they got ...this! Too trebley; omni-present mids; & NO bass!! The cymbals at least don't sound as mechanical as on St Anger. Still, this was them at their peak. Burton didn't play on it but he & the guys had started to work on ideas for To Live is To Die, which was on this album.
Very strange production on this album - all high end guitar and everything scooped out of the middle so the drums sound like someone hitting books. That said it is still fun to listen to...
Actually, he did have classical theory as well. But his primary bass influences were Steve Harris and Geddy Lee. Both were "lead bass" players as well. It showed, as well as the prog-rock musical influence (shifts to acoustic, time and signature changes, etc.)
Newsted played on 'Justice'.
Don't know of Burton's classical training you thinkin of randy rhoads?
Agree they sucked after justice.
this album is Lars' percussive masterpiece if you ask me.

@haywire - no one has even come close to the heavy metal composition that Cliff Burton brought to Metallica from his classical music training. After they lost him and his content, their music just started to suck. Anything after "And Justice For All" is not worth owning in my opinion.
lawl... wut? suuuure. dorothy and todo and the rest LOVE Metallica. metallica circa late 1980's. the wizard of oz, easily 30 years before that. maybe metallica loves wizard of oz?
My favorite metallica song.... They faked that they were going to play it at their most recent show in San Antonio... They played the witch of the west guards intro and then stopped! I was sooo pissed. >.<
Damn good song, on an even better album!! This right here is what I'm talkin' bout when I say this s**t is friggin' alright........shitfire and save some matches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
