Assembled by José Hernández in 1981, Sol de America became one of the main traditional Mexican acts in the U.S. performing mariachi (a combination of the name Maria with the indigenous diminutive suffix "chi," popularized in the 1930s when trumpets were added). José Hernández started getting involved in popular music after joining his father outfit, Mariachi los Galleros, in the 1970s. To keep Mexican cultural heritage alive and captivate new audiences worldwide, Sol de America combined mariachi and contemporary rhythms. In addition, José Hernández turned into classical music after forming Sol de America's symphonic orchestra. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
Que buen mariachi es,sol de mexico, tengo 63 anos y toda mi vida he sido amante del mariachi, estoy ahora con dudas, entre el mariachi vargas y el sol de Mexico cual sera el mejor del mundo.? Heraclio A.Perez Sanchez.
I never quite hear about comparing Classical music to Mariachi, and in my book, Mariachi is Classical music "A La Mexicana". I will gladly put up a Huapuango to one of the Classics. Listen to Violin Huapango and you will see what I mean. All music tends to evolutionize , but should never forget its roots. Mariachi is a heartfelt evolution of Classical music and Mariachi Sol de Mexico does a wonderful job of connecting the two.
