Lexi Valentine (vocals/guitar), Nadia King (drums), and French (bass) compose the girlish punk sounds of Magneta Lane. The trio came together in fall 2003 and spent the next year playing shows in and around their native Toronto. They craft a brash, sassy rock sound that resonates the confidence of the Runaways and the Pretenders while honoring such influences as Nancy Sinatra, Sonic Youth, and the Kinks. Magneta Lane's debut, The Constant Lover EP, was issued on Paper Bag in fall 2004. Dancing with Daggers, which was produced by the production team of MSTRKRFT -- Death from Above 1979's Jesse F. Keeler and producer Al-P -- marked Magneta Lane's studio full-length release in April 2006. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
Hmm pretty interesting. Sounds similar to the Smoking Popes with minimal guitars, fast punk-esque rhythms, and a lounge-act/Morrisey vocal style. The singer sounds a lot like Chrissie from the Pretenders.
plum & cpfuscher and somewhat correct when you are speaking about mainstream music, there are no REAL female bands/frontwomen who really rock, but if you do some searching there are loads, especially the ones Shon E. Downing mentioned
Plum and cpfuscher.....hard to find women who rock? Huh? L7, Babes In Toyland, Hole, Mecca Normal, Team Dresch, Lunachicks, Slant 6, Sleater-Kinney, Heavens To Betsy, Throwing Muses, The Distillers, The Breeders, Fluffy, 7 Year B**ch, The Gits, Bikini Kill, The Frumpies, Cold Cold Hearts, Kittie, Otep, The Butchies, Tribe 8, Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, Lush, Bratmobile, Be Your Own Pet...hard to find women who rock? Have you looked?!?!?!?!?

I think plum is partially correct. It's harder to find women that rock, but it's not because they can't rock, it's just that more guys are into forming bands and playing/making rock music than women. It's just a matter of percentages. Joan Jett rocks pretty hard. The Donnas rock pretty hard. There are plenty of other examples.

My favorite new band thanks to Pandora. Magneta Lane has serious skills!
I hate to say it, but it's harder to find chics that rock than it is dudes. I know I may offend many, but generally - chics don't rock. So, that being said, I'm not sold on these chics yet. There's an element in the song that I'm listening to that sounds a little like the go-go's. Although I liked them (when I was 12), I don't think they actually ROCKED, but rather bounced.
