Combining elements of jam bands and electronic dance rock, Lotus was formed by brothers Jesse Miller (bass/sampler) and Luke Miller (guitar/keyboards), Steve Clemens (drums), Chuck Morris (percussion), and Mike Rempel (guitar) while they were attending Goshen College in Indiana in 1999. They recorded their debut album, Vibes, in concert in the fall of 2001 and self-released it in 2002. A second live album, Germination, was released on Harmonized Records on May 13, 2003. Nomad, the group's first studio recording, followed on September 21, 2004. The Strength of Weak Ties, another studio album, appeared on April 4, 2006. Lotus was signed to the SCI Fidelity label for its third live album, a double disc called Escaping Sargasso Sea, released May 29, 2007. Five months later, Copy/Paste/Repeat: Lotus Remixed was issued on November 6, 2007. Lotus' third studio album, Hammerstrike, came out on October 14, 2008. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
saw them in 2002 they opened for none other than Ozric Tentacles. As is always done they were tamed down because of the ozrics. What a awesome show. Then they headlined at the grog shop in Cleveland and kicked it's a**. I also want to say that I had a chance to meet these guys, sit down and drink beers with them a few times. Good guys they have worked hard for their success. Much Love and God Bless those Guys
Went to inagural b-roo, haven't been back since. If you dig trance, checkout the 2 fav. festies I went to on archive. Disco biscuits at Haymaker 02, and Trancemission in '03...They showed the mid- atlantic a lotta love back then. Holy...mother a pearl.
@mrjwoody - I totally agree. I saw them at Bonnaroo this year and was blown away. I had no idea who they were before I saw them (which is probably one reason I liked them so much). I even had to catch them over on the sonic stage the next day for another little set, it was awesome!
Saw them at Bonneroo, and even with all of the headliner big names, Lotus is in my top 3 performances for that 4 day period of live shows. They truly took me by surprise with how awesome their live show is.
