A word in support of an artist who will probably be passed over by 999 listeners out of 1000. Her biggest hit, the tastefully restrained "Hypnotized," came on the Loma subsidiary of Warner Brothers in 1967, but her later recordings for Turbo were probably the most gloriously histrionic soul records of all time. She started at a climax and worked up from there, transforming a ballad like "Let It Be Me" with her towering fury. It was pure gospel -- and then some. Jones was already ill with diabetes when she cut those records, and she fell into a diabetic coma and passed away in 1972 at the age of 27 while resting at home between matinee and evening shows at the Apollo. ~ Colin Escott, Rovi
To all who reads this another good old school singer is Laura Lee with her big hit of the remake You Send Me. I have them all plus more.

One of our beautiful old school singers. I sure would like to know what she would have came up with in these days and time. I have all of her music and wished I had more. These people today just don't know what the meaning of old school is! Rest in peace Linda and hope to meet you on the other side so we can sing together.
Yes, this is an artist and a half, with an instantly recognizable vocal style. I danced the slow, smooth Hypnotized at many a house party, but there would have been so much more. RIP

Beautiful song - Her daughter sang it in the 80's at Montclair State College (now University). We sure did lose a great one.

I had the pleasure of seeing Linda Jones at the Apollo Theatre and she was headlining for Joe Tex "skinny legs and all". Linda closed the show down. I witnessed a TRUE ARTIST and have been in love with Linda's music ever since. I was going to see her again when she died. Her music was always so sad but she reached inside you. R.I.P. I was in love with her music as a teenager and I love for your precious love still to this day
Wow, she died so young. This is the first I'm hearing of her, but I'm definitely going to look into her music. She has an amazing voice and shoudl not be forgotten.

I was told she died from an over dose of drugs on stage, in concert. I am so glad it's not true. I do wish she was singing.
We lived around the corner from each other, my son sang with her brother Charles Jones. I attended the Wake and Funeral; it was really, really a sad day, she is also 2, of my nephews Aunt, Charles Jones is my nephews father. I wish we had tapes back then; I would have recorded the shows my son, James and Charlie did together.

I remember when she passed away, however, didn't know she was so young. A very talented song stylist with a unique sound.
Ms. Linda Jones voice is so so great. If she hadn't passed away at such a young age she would have gained so much more fame across the world. Plus, she is from my town of Newark, NJ!! rest in peace Ms. Jones.
I would like to thank Miss Jones daughter Terry for releasing new music on her mother the great Linda Jones I LOVE every song on Soul Talkin!! And for Linda Jones to receive a Grammy nomination in 2009 is FANTASTIC!!
The most soul stirring artist i"ve ever had the pleasure of listening to, she is the equivalent of the mixture of both Sam Cooke, and Jackie Wilson, with just a dash of Wilson Pickett. Nough said!
