Everybody, Plant was the only guy here ripping off old blues. However, it isn't so bad. All old blues pretty much sounds like this (no disrespect). Great song, just enjoy the music.
This might be the reason for I Can't Quit You Babe

No one ripped anyone off, just listen to the music and if you don't have anything good to say about one song that the best band ever (led zeppelin obviously) made, then don't say anything and listen to your blues
I love Led Zep, I really do. And, I like this song a lot. But, yes, it is basically stolen from older blues. The riff, the lyrics. Not original. This is true of a lot of Zep's tunes.
we used to listen to this in the cafeteria in high school. colville HS 1970. ninth grade. oh my. i don't think the Principal was too aware of what lusty, carnal sounds we were tracking.
HERE WE GO AGAIN ! LED ZEPPELIN RIPPED OFF NOTHING. BLUES ARE BLUES. ALL THE SAME, THE ONLY THING THAT CHANGES ARE THE KEY,AND THE STYLE !!BY THE WAY ALL THE OLD BLUES DUDES DID THE SAME THING AND WERE INFLUENCED BY EVEN OLDER BLUES DUDES. P.S. GO LISTEN TO SOME OF THE "ORIGINAL" SONGS AND SEE IF YOU CAN FIND ONE ARTIST FROM BACK THEN WHO COULD EVEN PLAY WORTH A S**T, OR WRITE A RIFF EVEN CLOSE TO JIMMY PAGE !

Can't we just enjoy the music instead of arguing about who ripped off who. I'm just glad they made the music.
@Ryan Foster: You don't think half of Page's riffs came from old blues players? He did have his own way of playin it though. Just sayin.
@Grath36: Honestly I'd be more impressed if he played the whole thing by memory, but it is some SICK bass.
Zep Rules!
It's not ripoff... or homage. It's just recycling from a reservoir of lyrics and 32-bar charts. Thanks to Zeppelin for introducing two or three generations to the tradition.
Page never rips off old blues players, it's always Plant who steals their lyrics. Like in this song, Page and Jones create this wonderful music, and then Plant uses someone elses lyrics and gets them sued, that also happened in whole lotta love
phil.llali4-"squeeze my lemon til the juice runs down my leg" is a line from a Robert Johnson song, can't remember which one right now. The rest is mainly "Killing Floor" by Howling Wolf, although the origins of that song may go back even further
one comment is not enough i had to say more. this song is what every rock band has wanted to sound like but has never come close to. Plant hits notes that send chills down your spine while Page lures you with his riffs. Bonham as always never missing a beat and crashing down with such high intensity. and this is Jones' masterpiece and it was all on a whim. i love bass in my music and he is why this is my favorite Zeppelin song.
