Comparing LedZep to the Beatles? What? Apples and oranges. You are comparing blues-based rock with pop. Both were great, but not at all the same genre.
@chris Nirvana, while they may have been good, were extremely overrated. They are not even the best grunge band (Alice in Chains wins that honor), let alone one of the top 3 bands of all time.
In July 1977 his (Robert PLant) son Karac died at age five of a stomach infection while Plant was engaged on Led Zeppelin's concert tour of the United States. It was a devastating loss for the family. Plant retreated to his home in the Midlands and for months afterward he questioned his future.<17> Karac's death later inspired him to write the song All My Love in tribute, featured on Led Zeppelin's final studio LP, 1979's In Through the Out Door.
Cut the crap about zep vs Beatles. We'll never input in our life time have better artists - what with the crap inrock these days compared with the late 60s and 70s. And what about Tull,Floyd, bad company and a host of fab groups of that era!
Not surprising, then, that Page, recently, said that after the album was out he'd started to chat up Bonham about making the follow up album way harder & guitar-oriented than In Thru The Out Door was. Alas, Bonham was not to last for much longer, nor the band as things turned out.
This song has brilliant lyrics. Page said this was not one of his favorites, but only because he had very little to do with the songs arrangement. JPJ and Plant did most of the arrangement, because Page was in rehab and not able to work at the time. This is just another great Zep tune that has layers of great instrumental vocal artistry.
