Gothic metal band Leaves' Eyes was born out of the romantic relationship between singer Liv Kristine Espenæs and guitarist Alexander Krull, who met whilst she was fronting Norway's Theatre of Tragedy and he Germany's Atrocity. The pair eventually married and announced their musical union in 2003, with Espenæs quitting Theatre of Tragedy to join Krull and the rest of Atrocity's lineup (guitarists Thorsten Bauer and Mathias Roderer, bassist Christian Lukhaup, and drummer Nick Barker) to found Leaves' Eyes and record their 2004 debut album, Lovelorn. Along with its next-year successor, Vinland Saga, the record confirmed the new group's affinity for theatrical, symphonic goth-metal, as the leading couple living out the beauty and the beast' vocal roles. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
Don't waste your time with those posts about your crushes or loves its a bunch of s**t I knew but I still tried them anyways it sucks that great music like this isn't heard more instead if that rap pop bullshit flavor of the moments
Agree with the post about the vocals. My biggest complaint about Liv is that she sounded faint & weak. I don't seem to remember her vocals being so soft when she sang for ToT.
Liv has a very dreamy voice. Almost like something you would hear in a dream. I love the fact that her voice is a little different then the other female singers.
@xxxWhenItRainsxxx I think their new album is wonderful. Would even say its the best one I've heard so far. It depends on taste though. Their new album is more focused towards folk metal. It has a lot of songs not in English and isn't as vocalcentric than their other albums. Not bad in the smallest sense, just a bit different.
Wow! This is the first time I'm hearing Leaves' Eyes. I've been a fan of Atrocity for years and loved the Liv Theatre of Tragedy albums. This is great!
I love Leaves eyes, but I've heard that Meredead isnt a very good album. I just heard a song from it, and it seems good. Anyone know how the rest of the album is? How it compares to vinland saga or njord?
the best female vocalist i have heard...and for norweigen metal, its outstanding...perfect voice...does great back up for cradle of filth...check them out if you like this
