Larry graham is one the best bass players in history. He invented the slap and pop style of the electric bass. Check out a tune by him called "the jam" it will blow your mind.
I saw Larry Graham in the fall of 2011....and he gets people up and dancing just as well as he did when I saw him in the 70s!! And still did about a two hour show! The audience members had to rest a bit before leaving the show LOL
Patrice Banks of GCS is my sister, needless to say I saw many shows. I don't know who invented the bass, but Larry PERFECTED IT. Larry keep on keepin on
I saw Larry in concert with GCS about 1975ish in Philly. He was incrudable, he letf all other bass players in tears.

Larry Graham as been the most influential bassists of out time)particularly the rock/soul time). His influential slap-bass style was innovative, unique and above all sweetly funky, like no other! He also was a major influence on that other great Bassist myself! Anthony "The bassist" Ford
Larry made a difference in music and he was not given enough credit for being the person who first started plucking the strings on a bass and making the waller sound. Bootsy of Bootsy's Rubberband said: "that Larry Graham was the first to really changed the sound on a bass.
Larry Graham actually was the first to come out with pop / slap bass technique. The drummer from what I understand quit the group that his
mother had put together. Therefore he had to take the place of the drums as
well as the bass, which started the slap / thump / bass playing. Afterwards,
Stanley Clarke picked up on the technique and I mean ran with it. My favorite songs on the LP "My radio sounds good to me" is "POW" and "Is it love". Big fan of Larry Graham forever...
