Kamelot

A shape-shifting and musically adept American, German, and Swedish hard rock unit that skilfully blends elements of classical, gothic/doom metal, progressive rock, and symphonic metal, Kamelot came to be in 1992 in Tampa, Florida. Founded by multi-instrumentalist Thomas Youngblood, the band has endured numerous lineup changes throughout its existence, with Youngblood serving as the sole consistent member (Norwegian vocalist Roy Sætre Khantatat, better known as Roy Khan, had the second longest tenure, serving as frontman and co-writer from 1997 to 2011). Kamelot issued its debut album, Eternity, via Noise Records in 1995, and stayed with the label through its next five offerings, Dominion (1997), Siége Perilous (1998), The Fourth Legacy (1999), Karma (2001), and Epica (2003), before inking a deal with the Sony-distributed German independent SPV/Steamhammer for their seventh long-player The Black Halo. 2007's Ghost Opera found its way into the Billboard Top 200 via the Top Heatseekers chart, while 2010's Poetry for the Poisoned and 2012's ambitious Silverthorn and 2015's epic Haven helped to firmly establish the band as one of contemporary power metal's most enduring acts. ~ James Christopher Monger

This would be my favorite band right now if Roy hadn't burned out. God bless that man for the legacy he left behind. His music speaks to the soul. Tommy's not really like him. It's rare I like one of his songs. His lyrics just feel like he's an amateur for most of his songs. Shame, that.

I prefer Vanessa Carlton to simone simmons

Love me some Kamelot. Khan was amazing but Tommy has very similar vocals and fits well in the band.
Report as inappropriate
I was skeptical about anyone replacing Roy Khan, but Tommy has been a pleasant surprise. Will always miss Roy's vocals, but I'm glad they found someone with a similar voice and level of talent.

I could see Roy Khan doing well as the phantom in Phantom Of The Opera.

Epica needs to make an album called Kamelot now XD

Although nothing compares to DT, this style of metal is my favorite. I love bands like Symphony X, Iced Earth, and Blind Guardian. Kamelot is right up there with the best of them.

Saw them at The Pearl Room in Mokena IL, back in 2008. Never even heard of them before that night, but wow! As a Rush/Dream Theater fan, these guys were right up my alley! New vocalist is good, but Roy Kahn will always be the voice of Kamelot for me.

Growing up in Sarasota/Tam p a with death metal at every angle, I'm sorry I hadn't heard or seen Kamelot before! Hopefully they play here soon!

I remember being a teenager, and always seeing Kamelot CDs at the record shop. I always thought I should just buy it, it looks like something I'd like. I don't know why I felt that way, but I bought the latest album at the time, Karma. I've been a die hard fan ever since. Kamelot is the king of storytelling power metal.

I wish I got into Kamelot years ago.

The Black Halo rocks hard!
Report as inappropriate
Definitely among the best in their discipline.

I like how The Black Halo doesn't seem overproduced . I actually think I can hear the sound of the pick hitting the strings.

haven is out I like it a lot, tommy's vocals rocked

The BEST symphonic metal band EVER! Broke my heart when Khan left - although Tommy is an admirable replacement. But Khan's vocals on March of Mephisto, Memento Mori and the multi-part Poetry for the Poisoned is sheer perfection. (Plus, he was such eye-candy for all us female metal fans.) Jeg savner deg, Roy!

Maximum speed and power

Why Kamelot?...b e c a u s e I need metal; It's an addiction.
Report as inappropriate
I discovered them here on Pandora and have since introduced them to a bunch of my family members and friends. They're all as addicted as me now.

I am liking this song called Eden Echo on the Ghost Opera album.

They are a little heavier than most of the music on my Prog Metal stations, so I put them in on my Speed, Thrash, & Power station.

This is great!

Veil of Elysium

Very talented...K a m e l o t take what other bands do, but that do it better...wai t a minute, isn't that what every great band does?
Report as inappropriate
Btw, Tommy Kaverik is their new Lead Singer and hes was previously from the band Seventh Wonder
Report as inappropriate
I prefer Roy's singing, but the new vocalist (forget his name) is still really epic. Still sounds like Kamelot, Roy or no Roy.
Report as inappropriate
The new vocalist is pretty good but i prefer the songwriting they did while Khan was with them. Still one of the best power metal bands and one of the most talented around.
Report as inappropriate
It's hard unfortunate that Roy is no longer, with Kamelot. I wush him all the best.

What awesome check music ,)) //////

Love Kamelot even more so since they featured Elize Ryd from Amaranthe and Alissa White-gluz from Archenemy in Sacramony.

Kamelot rocks! My favorite group right now. Bought several of their songs to be able to listen to them whenever, Memento Mori one of them.
Report as inappropriate
March of Mephisto is easily one of my fave songs now, and it is my fave Kamelot song by far.

I used to not like Kamelot, but then I started paying attention to their stuff, and now I'm off to create a station.

Reminds me of Queensryche. . . I like them a lot!!

NO ONE LIKE THIS BAND! Their like count's at 3,333! KEEP IT THERE!

If you have time.. I recommend "March of Mestpho" by Kamelot. The vocals are absolutely alluring more than anything I have ever heard. They have the"dark" flow/love down to a science that transcends many artists that claim such existence. If you listen to the lyrics and actually know what they are saying.. then you can appreciate them fully... the instrumental s are just beauty enhancers.

Some ppl are kinda tasteless and can't tell the difference between piss and beer
Report as inappropriate
Agreed. Regardless of whether you care for the music, you have to respect talent and give credit where credit is due.
Report as inappropriate
Are you insane? Roy Kahn is a god among vocalists. Even if you didn't care for it, I don't see how anyone can say he's kinda bad.
Report as inappropriate
I like the insturmental s , but the vocals are kinda bad
Report as inappropriate
Conception was a band that he was a vocalist for.
Report as inappropriate
What is a conception vocalist? Any one?
Report as inappropriate
I greatly prefer Kahn.
