Just Surrender

Emo-rocking pop-punk act Just Surrender formed in 2003, originally dubbed A Second Chance. The group sprang up around high-school buddies bassist/vocalist Jason Maffucci, guitarist Andrew Meunier, and drummer Steve Miller before the search for a suitable fourth member eventually ended with the addition of guitarist/vocalist Dan Simons. Based out of Dover Plains, NY, the crew recorded a four-song EP with producer John Naclerio (Brand New, Senses Fail), and within months of posting some songs online, their music had logged nearly half a million listens and their tradeoff vocals earned the band comparisons to Taking Back Sunday. As gigs at the Chance Theater in nearby Poughkeepsie were getting visibly bigger, fellow New Yorkers Autopilot Off took notice and brought the young group out on tour. This quickly led to other higher-profile shows with bands like Bayside, Hawthorne Heights, Matchbook Romance, the Early November, and more. In March 2005, A Second Chance inked a deal with Broken English Records -- co-owned by Naclerio and Autopilot Off's Chris Hughes -- and changed their name to Just Surrender (due to trademark concerns) soon after. Their full-length and label debut, If These Streets Could Talk, was released in July 2005 and the usual rounds of touring commenced. Meunier parted ways with Just Surrender in early 2007. ~ Corey Apar, Rovi

I agree as well, in my opinion though, as far as this genre goes, almost anyone can make the music in the studio. But bands like just surrender, mayday parade, a day to remember, I would have never gotten into if I hadn't first witnessed their live shows. I have to develop a respect for them live first, cause that type of music isn't too difficult to write and record.
rkunkel2, very true. A lot of people listen to music that I don't notice any talent in. When you've listened to a band for so many years, it becomes obvious when it starts to sound like the popular, mainstream crap on itunes.
I appreciate underground bands like this because some of them sound much better than the mainstream bands of their genres.
Yeah they sound like senses fail, and I love them both. And yeah I saw them right after they released their first full length with lovehatehero and they were pretty freaking amazing. Got to rock out with the lead singer in the tiny crowd watching lovehatehero .
xenophobical i e n
I saw these guys when they were still A Second Chance when they only had their EP. It was such a small show; so awesome. I was the only one who knew any of their stuff.
these guys are pretty badass
Senses Fail!! all im sayin
Another crappy wanna be punk band! BARF!!!!!
Sounds JUST like Senses Fail, like EXACTLY like the lead singer.
I love this band! <33
Just Surrender may not be very original, but his voice is unique. I love it. Great band :)
They sound a lot like Panic! At The Disco and someone else.... Can't quite put my finger on it, but I like them. c:
I think they sound like a mix of all time low and 2007 all American rejects and,a little bit of fall out boy, but not as awesome tho.
They're good. But I'm not hearing anything that makes them stand out. I'd never be like OMG THAT'S THAT BAND JUST SURRENDER! Because nothing about them is very original. Still a somewhat decent band I guess. . .
You people are so f**king stupid. Quit b**ching, take the stick out of your a**, and just listen to the music.
i lovve all the songs on were in like sin!!!
I love this band. If These Streets Could Talk is the best album ever!!

So then they compare the Lostprophets to JS instead? Just Surrender's nothing like the Lostprophets .
I agree, Brand New is their own genre, and ADTR are way more hardcore. These guys are good, but nothing like those two bands.
ericacurran
Brand New and A Day to Remember? To me, these guys sound more similar to Anberlin, Hidden In Plain View, Saosin, or Armor for Sleep.
phhhhssshhhh ! ! ! ! ! !
mediocre voice is okay the sound isn't unpleasant
These guys are awesome! :) i just wish they had more albums...
daniel.w.pag e

No one is really backing up why they think these guys suck. They aren't the best band Ive ever heard in my life but they are still a decent band. I say quit hating on them. Ps they are awesome live.
they sound way too much like good charolette and panic at the disco its kinda pathetic.
good but pretty bland
wow I can't believe how popular this band has become...I think they might break into the mainstream if they outdo themselves.. . b u t they have to come up with something more awesome than this, which is hard...I can barely breathe for the win.
krazycourt14
