Jukebox The Ghost

Pianist Ben Thornewill, guitarist Tommy Siegel, and drummer Jesse Kristin first came together in 2003 as undergraduate students at George Washington University. Sporting a quirky, brainy pop sound that took its cues from the likes of Ben Folds and They Might Be Giants, the three logged several years together under a different name, the Sunday Mail, before rebranding themselves Jukebox the Ghost in 2005. Following graduation, they released their debut album, Let Live & Let Ghosts, and relocated to Philadelphia.

Boosted by positive reviews, Jukebox the Ghost began touring in earnest, first as the opening act for one of their biggest influences (Ben Folds) and then alongside some of their pop-minded contemporaries (Tally Hall, Jenny Owen Youngs, Nightmare of You). By early 2010, they’d signed with Yep Roc Records and gone into the studio with producer Peter Katis, known for his work with atmospheric rock bands like Interpol and the National. With Katis adding a darker element to the band’s sound, Jukebox the Ghost released their second album, Everything Under the Sun, in September. That same year, the group celebrated a milestone with an appearance on the David Letterman Show, followed by tours with Barenaked Ladies and Jack's Mannequin, before heading back into the studio to record their third full-length, 2012's Safe Travels. ~ Andrew Leahey, Rovi

They are simply some of the greatest show men around. Lovely live. Phantastic in Philly on April 1st.
Check out their youtube videos on wnrn radio station. Absolutely perfect.
Saw them at Artscape omg they're amazing live and Ben looks like he's thoroughly enjoying himself when he's performing :D
They came to Geneseo this past weekend--SUP E R B .

Why am I so in love with this band <3333

Ben, Jesse, and Tommy have crafted wonderful, upbeat, quirky, thoughtful, and amazing songs on every one of Jukebox the Ghost's three albums. These guys are amazingly talented musicians with a sound all their own. It's so obvious they love what they do, and the joy shines through in their live shows. If you have a chance to see them, take it!!!

Have become addicted to JTG! So glad we went to that Barenaked Ladies Concert where they opened. I probably wouldn't know about them otherwise. Immediately hooked!
Saw them at Irving Plaza last night, they rocked my socks :)
Saw them in Denver last night. These guys are a must see live band. Never had so much fun at a concert.

Been friends with Jesse (the drummer) since I was 8ish.
This band is so good. I can't get enough!
I've seen them live three times now, and each time, I think it
s their best performance, but then they just get better. Their Boston show last month was totally worth the heat in the venue!
Love these guys. Have a signed album displayed on my bookcase now!
i.love.them.
njpoolgirl
saw them at JM too!
Saw them with JM too, just a month ago! They all signed their CD for me :) They are fantastic!
I saw them at the Jack's Show in D.C a few days ago. They were unbelievable . I am in love!!
Haha, I saw them at the Jack's show as well!!! Really good upbeat music!
Just saw these guys this past weekend at the Jack's Mannequin show. I'm in love. They were so good live.
I am hopelessly addicted to these guys! Their songs are really catchy, and I like almost every single song on both albums.

Introduced to these guys by my wife, who went to GWU and graduated with them. Immediately fell in love with their hip sound and cerebral lyrics. They put on a phenomenal live show!
Saw this group with Guster in Dallas. After just one song I was hooked and sent my husband to get all the vinyls in the concert store. SO CATCHY!!
@DangItPopsi c l e ! I was there at the Earth House in Indie! That show was fantastic. I love this band, I can't stop listening to their songs!!!
they're great! :") especially love "under my skin".
One of my favorites :-) Just got the first album in vinyl- nothing like it!! Can't wait to see these guys again.
One of the only bands who lose nothing in live performance and gain major points for charisma. Empire, Hold It In, Mistletoe, and Under My Skin are my favorites.
saw them in B-more too & <3'd them!!
I saw them live in Indianapolis and LOVED IT.
They were playing in this place called "Earth House Collective" which used to be a church.
So, they came out for their encore, but they only had the keyboard for so long, so Ben was like "I should play on a real piano!" So he ends up playing "So Let Us Create" on this dinky little church piano.... AND HE MAKES IT WORK!
I only saw them live once; I can't wait til they come by again! Their music is awesome.
Hooked!
i saw them when they came to baltimore and they were awesome! the lyrics are genius and the music is amazing! i'd give them 6 thumbs up if i could!
I've seen them a couple times now, great guys and great music!

What a great band. I saw them open for BNL and was blown away. I haven't seen a three piece band rock like that since the Police. Great lyrics and wordplay, complex catchy melodies and they were so tight- Ben and Tommy are no slouches but I think Jesse is the one who has elevated this group to greatness.
Wow this is my first time hearing them and I'm instantly hooked!

Saw Jukebox the Ghost open for the Barenaked Ladies a couple of weeks ago, and became a huge fan. I think I listed to Everything Under The Sun about six times in a row. Their music makes me so happy, and I can't wait to hear what they do next!
I saw these guys at a Tally Hall concert last spring, and fell in love. The two bands mixed well and I enjoyed discovering Jukebox. I think their poppy sound works well for them, but I'd like to hear something a little different in the future. Keep it up boys!
Jukebox the Ghost is my favorite band. Having said that, I think Let Live and Let Ghosts is better than Everything Under the Sun. Which do you guys think is better? Also, has anyone else besides me heard their hidden track Ghosts in Empty Houses? It's one hell of a song.
Just saw them last night in San Antonio opening for Barenaked Ladies. They were really good. I had never heard or seen them before and they made me a fan.
That's not what bane means. :/ This band rocks hard and I can't wait to see them live sometime in Philly.

I'm pretty sure that Jukebox The Ghost is the bane of my exsistance. As I'm sure it is for many a' folk. The dabbling in the art of pop, along with spetacularly quirky lyrics, it's the perfect mate for Vampire Weekend and Modest Mouse on anyone's mp3, CD player, or record player.
I'm so glad I got to see these guys at Lollapalooza this year. They were a great find for me. It's good to see some people are discovering them through Pandora as well.
saw them last night @ the black cat in DC, they put on an amazing show!

Also saw them open for BF, in Omaha...had never heard of Ghost, but they were fanstastic! Great set, really got the crowd.
They opened for Ben Folds in Tampa a few weeks ago. LOVED them!!
@CJ I was at that concert too, they played an awesome show. They're a really fun group to watch play. They all really get into it, especially the keyboardist.
flavouski
Yeah they were pretty awesome in Indy 3/21. I think they came out with more energy than Ben Folds at the beginning..
Opened for Ben Folds in Boston on 3/27, absolutely stole a crowd that had never heard them before. 5 song set earned them a huge ovation. Really great performers, obviously gifted musicians and a unique sound that has room to grow and define what direction they want to go, they've got options. I want to hear more.
Saw them open for Ben Folds in Milwaukee on 3/19. AWESOME!!!! Got to meet Ben after the show too (uhh, BOTH Bens), nice guy! Great music. Looking forward to more from them!
