Cuban-American Jorge Moreno delivered some of the most interesting and alternative work to the Latin music scene in the early 2000s; a fusion of pop/rock, Afro-Cuban, Caribbean, and urban rhythms are brought together in his debut album, Moreno. Influenced by his father, Tony Moreno, a Latin music expert, and mother, who used to listen to American rock & roll and British pop, Jorge Moreno became involved in popular music while participating in a trio which disbanded after three years of playing internationally. EMI Music Publishing gave him the opportunity to work as a songwriter, and Moreno later signed up to the Latin division of Maverick. There he made his first solo album, produced by Andres Levin, A.T. Molina, and Lester Mendez. In addition, Moreno performed a memorable version of Desi Arnaz' "Babalu" in a special program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the I Love Lucy show. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
