Too bad they couldn't stay together but @ the time they started to have different dreams. That's life it happens. John sounded like he was grieving over their split

Paul is dead, at least his voice is, a far cry from what he was, hasn't released a good song since Tug of War
MMEE, that's a good metaphor.. Or maybe a cool western novel, who knows.
Too much smoke, too many chiefs, not enough Indians, and a drummer that didn't want it to end. The Beatles ending revealed, in short.
No, I totally agree @L.Taylor
That's what qualifies someone as either a sibling or,best friend. Family is wear we find them. They really were more like 'brothers' Yoko was the ringer. Sorry, just sayin.
He later said that if you can't fight with your best friend then who else could you fight with? (It might've been Paul who said it, sorry)
So ironic that this comes up on my Paul station.
Ooh bitterness.. . That's some arch-enemy stuff right there, more suitable for Khan v Kirk... Khaaaaaan how do you sleeeeeep?

It's a song attacking Faul not Paul he died in a car crash around recording time of yesterday didn't he. Watch the documentary "Paul McCartney really is dead" then listen to this song/ read lyrics

Kind of a mean song...but I really love it
John was just jealous of Paul and what's funny is that Paul had a way better single career then John or any other beatle
I always found it ironic that John would say jump when your mamma tell you anything given how his own relationship would develop with Yoko.
I once heard he wrote this in response to a song Paul wrote about him, maybe Admiral Halsey? but I'm not positive
A mean song, but I can't help loving it... Poor Paul and John. There must have been such an emptiness at this point in their careers.
I believe that this wasn't a jab just at Paul but at all the pain that Paul caused John. They were both terribly meant to each other, this wasn't the only track that tore another Beatle down. George has admitted in interviews that he felt the same way when he was doing the sessions.
Poor Paul:((
I still miss John. His wit, music and acid tongue. How Do You Sleep?
It should come as no surprise that things can get this hurtful when friends break up. It's like a marriage gone bad.
I don't like this song. He wrote this to hurt Paul. If you watch the session thing on Youtube, you can see that George (Who plays lead guitar on this song) doesn't look like he wants to be doing this.
@Jan Christopher Gilbert: Anyone who can write songs like Yesterday, and Eleanor Rigby is not a second rate hack.
It was John Lennons contribution s I loved most and post Beatles he was the only one ex-beatle I followed and bought records. Paul McCartney just wasn't cool to me. Especialy when he got real popular with those silly sing song child like ryhmey love songs. Ram was great, but thats where it ended for me.

This is one angry John Lennon song. He was mad, and had the right to be. However, in the tradition of rock banks around the world, if things had gone differently, I could see the two of them playing together today and they definitely would have shone at the Concert for George. Perspective people. As you get older, you realize that time is not endless. John may never have gotten to that place when he died, but I think that at the time of John's death, he and Paul were mates again, even thoug
John was not just all about peace and love. This song is full of contempt, anger and disappointme n t in his long-term mate, Paul. Yes, John, Paul's music had become muzak. With the chemistry of the Beatles,
Paul was an enormous talent, but without George, Ringo and especially John, Paul was a second rate hack. Bless him anyway.
That is George's guitar you hear on this . . .

I have been a Beatle fan ever since I heard them for the first time, Ok, John was pissed at the time as the other two were but life goes on. If John was here he be playing with Paul and perhaps writing songs together again. They were the greatest and I don't know if I will live long enought to see or hear anything like them again

To the person who wrote below (re: Paul), "And since he's still recording good music and selling out stadiums at age 67, I guess he had the last laugh . . ." Um....and he wasn't murdered at the age of 40...
You ran out of space.......

"On a pile of money!" yelled Paul in response.

I would have to agree with baselitch. Besides, in most breakups, there is usually enough blame to go around for everybody. I did see a movie based on Paul McCartney's life with Linda, and from what I saw, the split broke Paul's heart, too. And most likely George's and Ringo's. Long-time friends don't usually break up without good reason. My guess is that the bad blood between Yoko and Linda (Yoko trying to dictate who can be in the recording sessions and and Linda feeling excluded, etc.) dr
And Paul yelled in response: "On a pile of money!"
Obviously they patched things up, but ironically this rather tuneless song would have benefited greatly from Paul's writing input and backing vocals. And since he's still recording good music and selling out stadiums at age 67, I guess he had the last laugh . . .
The take containing the lyric: "HOW DO YA SLEEP, PAUL, YOU C**T!!!"; was unfortunatel y lost.
this is such a song attacking paul mccartney but its so good
