Reminds a bit of Glass, Arvo Part and other semi-minimalists of the contemporary period. Engaging, intriguing, with some gusto, the music is not as full as the Polish contemporary Zbigniew Preisner, who astonishes not with Liszt-like virtuosity but with the ability to dazzle the listener with melodic caucophony.
Wonderful music from the new era of young composers. It's great to hear artists blending minimalist technique with more pop culture influence. I can see this as a kind of middle ground between Steve Reich and the folkism of pop artists like Sufjan Stevens and Death Cab for Cutie. You can hear Aaron Copland's influence streaming through the whole thing also. Beautiful work, something more modern composers should aspire to.
