To the doughass that said the actors got approval from Johnny and June...they were dead by the time this movie was made...Did they get a message from jesus or something? Maybe their estate gave approval...y a think.

And Kristin - classic country isn't who sang it but when it was written. Most times it is one and the same but a lot of people have covered Johnny Cash songs

Movie rocked btw. I grew up outside Nashville in the 60' and 70' and listened to 'classic' country growing up.
None of the songs on this soundtrack should be on the classic country station, Pandora. I'm not saying they don't deserve to be on Pandora... I'm just saying a remake of a classic country song doesn't constitute classic country. I can't be alone in thinking this.

Not bad. That's what I like about Pandora, you make a Hurry Sundown channel and get to listen to a variety of kickass tunes. I heard the Kruger Brothers last night. Never heard of them, but they have some serious picking chops. And to the knuckleheads who only want to hear the one artist they put in: open your brains and let some variety in.

Good Music, Great Movie. Not a Country Music Fan but a big Johnny Cash Fan. The Original King. They both did them huge justice.
I think they great a good job, and to all the haters of Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon playing the roles of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, they (Joaquin and Reese) were both approved by their respective characters to play the roles they did.

Reese Witherspoon did a great job...who knew? Joaquin did an excellent job and I have been a fan since I started walking...on l y music my grandfather listened to.

I cannot believe the negative backlash this guy is still getting years after. The purists are gonna say hes no Johnny Cash and gnash teeth, etc. Here is a clue, he is not Johnny Cash. He did an effective job ACTING and SINGING Cash tunes. I would put him up against ANY reputable bar band covering the same tunes. Another shocker... Reese was arguably a better singer than June. June always sounded like nails on a chalkboard to me. Reese was palatable.
He did ok. I don't know if anyone could of done it better. He ain't no Cash. But what crap is he doing now Rapping>
Both Joaquin and Reese channeled Johnny and June better than anyone else could have, probably. They nailed it as we say in the acting business. The music can stand on it's own for sure, and their actors!
Joaquin Phoenix does not sound like Johnny Cash. It sucks that I have to lose the Johnny Cash songs if i want to avoid Joaquin Phoenix' crappy covers! This system needs improvement.
