This song means soooo much to me....like if you feel like giving up in any sense just listen to Jimi. He shall lead you in the right direction RIP ALWAYS remembered in this soul's heart

This freaked me out. This isn't fake. Apparently, if you copy an paste this on ten comments in ten minutes you will have the best day of your life tomorrow. You will either be kissed or asked out. If you break the chain, you will see a little girl in your room tonight. In the next 53 minutes someone will say I love you or I'm sorry.

So short!!! Yet..very powerful! I've always loved this song so much! Maybe because I was hypnotized by Jimmy's guitar talking. ;)

Saw him in Chicago January 1970. He was fantastic. A waste to have left this life so early.

Sounds backwards to me.

is the riff at 1:45-1:50 off of his guitar effects or is it a sampled played backwards, anyone know?

MIssing Hendrix at Woodstock, that's gotta suck. That's where he first played Star Spangled Banner right?

....and it really didn't have to stop. It just kept on going....

Poetic Genius. His word phrasing is just one part of this glorious piece. I never grow tired of hearing it. It is deep and just flat out some great guitar work. Peace.

filthyswit: STFUppp!! You clearly have not one artistic/cre a t i v e bone in your body. He phrased his words to go a certain way. Do you know how f**king stupid music/litera t u r e would be if you could only use the least common denominator, of words/phrase s , so to speak?! You're just being an a**hole to be an a**hole...a* * h o l e

Not a bad thing about this track. My second favorite after Wind Cries Mary. Genius is sooo correct. Love how he whispers Eventually. Peace everyone. Build your castles on rock.

'Jimi' James Marshall Hendrix... the GENIUS
Report as inappropriate
My favorite song by Mr. Hendrix: particularly the sad part about the handicapped girl wanting to die.
Report as inappropriate
saw Jimi at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium 1967 (?)...I was 12-13.... Vanilla Fudge opened....Mi t c h e l l remained one of my three primary influences in my drumming career , along with Bruford & Bonham
Report as inappropriate
My only regret is that I never saw Jimi play, I left Woodstock too early.

I read that Jimi's Dad said in an interview that when Jimi was a boy he would use a straw broom for a guitar. His dad would find the loose straws all over the house. He decided to buy him a guitar. He never stopped shredding!

"Axis" had the best guitar tapestries ever!Hendrix is the best! He is an original and I am sure his music will live on for many generations! Timeless!

Well said, John and Jim. Well said indeed. People greatly underestimat e his ability as a lyricist. And melodically- s p e a k i n g , this is some of the most beautiful guitar work he ever did.

This song has always and continues to give me chills. Achingly sad and beautiful. Truly amazing musicianship .

Jimi's Castles Made of Sand Transcends beyond space and time an innovative guitar style that not only amplifies the story telling of the 70's folky lyrics, and signature music phrasings that speak volumes in soulful bluesy melodies with incendiary yet sonorous feel with articulated slurs, slides, phrasings and melodious grooves touching on every style of guitar yet weaving it in to the heart of an era and reinventing rock and roll.

Hendrix's best lyrics here. He was influenced by Dylan.

She saw a golden-winge d ship was passing her way . . . and it really didn't have to stop . . . Jimi's songwriting talents have been underestimat e d by many. For me, he is one of the few artists who exists(ed) at another level of consciousnes s and performance.
