Poetic Genius. His word phrasing is just one part of this glorious piece. I never grow tired of hearing it. It is deep and just flat out some great guitar work. Peace.
filthyswit: STFUppp!! You clearly have not one artistic/creative bone in your body. He phrased his words to go a certain way. Do you know how f**king stupid music/literature would be if you could only use the least common denominator, of words/phrases, so to speak?! You're just being an a**hole to be an a**hole...a**hole
Not a bad thing about this track. My second favorite after Wind Cries Mary. Genius is sooo correct. Love how he whispers Eventually. Peace everyone. Build your castles on rock.
saw Jimi at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium 1967 (?)...I was 12-13.... Vanilla Fudge opened....Mitchell remained one of my three primary influences in my drumming career , along with Bruford & Bonham
I prefer the Red Hot Chili Peppers version. And I know I'm gonna get alotta s**t for saying this. Just my opinion.

I read that Jimi's Dad said in an interview that when Jimi was a boy he would use a straw broom for a guitar. His dad would find the loose straws all over the house. He decided to buy him a guitar. He never stopped shredding!
Well said, John and Jim. Well said indeed. People greatly underestimate his ability as a lyricist. And melodically-speaking, this is some of the most beautiful guitar work he ever did.
Jimi's Castles Made of Sand Transcends beyond space and time an innovative guitar style that not only amplifies the story telling of the 70's folky lyrics, and signature music phrasings that speak volumes in soulful bluesy melodies with incendiary yet sonorous feel with articulated slurs, slides, phrasings and melodious grooves touching on every style of guitar yet weaving it in to the heart of an era and reinventing rock and roll.
She saw a golden-winge d ship was passing her way . . . and it really didn't have to stop . . . Jimi's songwriting talents have been underestimat e d by many. For me, he is one of the few artists who exists(ed) at another level of consciousnes s and performance.
The loss of one tin soldier can never be forgiven.
