Washington-based singer/songwriter/accordion player Jason Webley developed his distinctive blend of folk, punk, and gypsy rock busking on the streets of Seattle in the late '90s. With a penchant for theatricality, pranks, and performance art, Webley hit the road in 1998 in support of his debut album Viaje and never looked back. Against the Night arrived in 1999, followed by Counterpoint (2002), Only Just Beginning (2004), and Cost of Living (2008). In 2004 he started his own label (Eleven Records) with the intention of releasing "eleven" collaborative albums with musician friends such as Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls and the Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
Jason came through Chicago a while ago and booked a show in this tiny little dive bar. There was a group of kids, who had come down from Milwaukee to hear him play. Unfortunately, they couldn't enter the bar for the concert because they were too young. So Jason played an impromptu concert for them out on the sidewalk.
This guy has one of the best live shows I have ever seen. I do not think that this single album does him justice. I would really love to see the other 4 album represented. I also love the the Eleven Saints collaboration by Jason Webley and Jay Thompson.
For those interested here is a picture I took of Jason when I was living in Seattle. If I recall he was playing his Aardvark song. http://www.flickr.com/photos/12465457@N08/1565614330/sizes/l/

I'm not a big fan of Andru but I agree, he should be on Pandora too.
Jason Webley is a force of nature who unfortunately has not put out an CD that accurately captures the beautiful terror that his live act inspires.

Jason Webley is a phenomenal artist with loads of talent. His live shows are superb fun and he's a pleasant house guest. All of his albums belong on here.
Thanks for finally noticing the king of Accordian Punk! I second the request for earlier albums. There's some unbelievably rich stuff in there. (Check out the album Counterpoint in particular.)
