Formed in the 1980s, IQ is comprised of Martin Orford, Paul Cook, Mike Holmes, Peter Nicholls, and John Jowitt. This prolific band has released 14 albums, beginning with 1983's Tales From the Lush Attic. They followed two years later with The Wake and Living Proof was also released in 1995. The next year saw the group release Nine in a Pond Is Here and Nomzamo came out in 1987. It was two years before they would release another disc, Are You Sitting Comfortably? and after another two years, IQ released J'ai Pollette D'arnu. 1993 saw the release of Ever and it would be three years this time until the world would see another album by IQ, Forever Live, released both in standard form and as a box set. The following year the group released Subterranea and Seven Stories Into '98 came out, appropriately enough, in 1998. The Lost Attic was released in 1999 and two more followed in 2000: the first was the live album, Subterranea: The Concert, and the second was The Seventh House. ~ Gary Hill, Rovi
You're right. The bio pretty much sucks and isn't consistent with the album releases below it. Semirelated, Martin Orford has some solo work that is awesome and worth checking out.
The description doesn't comment on their final album, Dark Matter. So I will. I believe Dark Matter to be the most listenable and consistent IQ release to date. At the same time it contains the intricacy, musicianship, key and time signature changes that make it a prog classic in my opinion. One of my all-time faves.
I am a huge fan of progressive rock have been for close to 40 yrs - these guys are pretty good- listen to steve hackett one of the inovators of the genre- i will keep my ears open for more from this band. - dig it
For prorock lovers, you guys should check also RPWL, Galleon, Pallas, Pendragon, Porcupine tree, Quidam, Shadow Gallery, Karnataka, Kayak, Kaipa, Everon, Circus Maximus, Camel, there are so many og good progressive rock band.

StoneHenge and Rock and Roll Creation rolled up in a tortilla. I actually like these songs, so it's not an insult.

Where are these guys from? They sound kinda like Spinal Tap>
Sounds like Marillion, Yes, Pink Floyd, and Rush all put together. Even a little ELP in the old school keyboards. Nice mellow prog rock. Never heard of these guys.
Difficult to locate anyone that sincerely likes this kind of music - even more difficult to find anyone who actually knows how to PLAY this kind of music. I started at the end by accident with the Dark Matter album (highly recommended) . Still learning. I hope they keep releasing, they have much to offer this world; a world flooded with musical vacancy and repetitive ignorance.
new to me im on board thanks fans and pandora. kiss my aura dora

The artist biography above succeeds in revealing essentially nothing about this great band.

The albums "Ever and Subterannea" are highly recommended as well as the Live album "Forever Live". I've been lucky enough to see tham 5 times or so in Quebec City, Bury, England and Bethlehem, Pa.
They remind me of Rush, which is a good thing. This is why I like Pandora, i have never heard of these guys until today. The song they played was very good. Makes me wanna check out the album for sure!

One of the more cerebral prog artists. Great arrangements and musicianship!
Do they sound like Marillion, or does Marillion sound like them? IQ released their second album in 1983 as Marillion debuted their first. Food for thought.
I never heard of these guys. They remind me of genesis; good stuff I will have to check the music out a little further. I will definitely look for them or ask about ordering thier albums.
I discovered this band on Pandora a few years ago, on my "Funeral for a Friend" channel (the Elton John song, not the band). They are hands down my favorite band now. For those looking for a good starter album, I'd recommend Ever. That said, The Seventh House is their strongest work to date, particularly if you are religious in any way (but even if you aren't). The two discs from the late 80s are more of a prog/pop mix, so those are good gateway albums, but less indicative of current sound.

Sacred Sound was also my first taste. Now IQ CDs are on wish list. Good neo prog - not really prog metal, but that's ok, too. Enjoy!

Sacred Sound was my intro to IQ. Pushed me to look for more. AWESOME!
Also, for further Prog Rock brilliance, check out THE FLOWER KINGS. Outstanding Swedish outift. I've had the honor of seeing them live in Largo, FL. I will never forget that show. Amazing.
Got this band from the Riverside station (Which is another amazing band). They definitely bring it! Rocks! Pandora is the greatest thing to happen to the discovery of music.
This band is poppin fresh dough! Hearkens back to early Genesis for me, brought up on all that 70's classic prog. Have only 3 of their albums, "the Wake, Subterranea, and Seventh House. All good. Will continue to check them out, you should too. Good band.
I have never heard of this band, except maybe once or twice way back in the 80's and right now I am listening to a song of theirs from"Nomzano". It sounds very good.Is there anyone out there who can recommend a good starter album of theirs I should check out? Kudos to PANDORA!!
IQ is by far the best PROG rock band I didn't hear until a friend turned me on to them in the early 2000s. I grew up on YES ,ELP, Crimson ,Genesis, etc , Its good to know there are other Good bands in this genre. Pandora is also a great way to find good bands you would probably never hear.
