The Native American blues-rock group Indigenous consists of three brothers, Mato Nanji (vocals and guitar), Pte (bass), and Horse (percussion), and their sister, Wanbdi (drums, vocals). The Nakota Nation members grew up on South Dakota's Yankton Indian Reservation and were inspired by their father, Greg Zephier, who had been a musician in the '60s and '70s and later became a spokesperson for Native American rights. The group released its 1998 debut album, Things We Do, on Pachyderm Records; the video for the title track was directed by Chris Eyre, who also directed the award-winning Native American film Smoke Signals. The group released the Blues This Morning EP and Live at Pachyderm Studios in 1999, while winning acclaim from critics and artists like Bonnie Raitt, the Indigo Girls, and Jackson Browne. The Circle followed in 2000. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
5/13/2013 - Going to see them this Friday at a little roadhouse in New Jersey( Stanhope House). I can't wait! Saw them three years ago in PA. I thought my chest was gonna implode ! These guys make a helluva a lotta sound for just three brothers...
Great group in Concert! Seen 5 times definitely worth it.

Been listening and buying their cd's for 13 years. the latest one featuring Mato is better than ever. they are just getting better.....one of the best in my opinion. love johnny lang (used to) till he got his religion into his music and he just doesn't jump/bump anymore like he use to. no good new stuff from him. oh well, give jimmy d lane a listen, he'll blow your socks off too! just sayin.....

Wocobble... maybe a bad nite for Jonny Lang, but DAMN. I LOVE Jonny. I went to the show to see him! But Mato just smoked him. From their 1st note to their last Indigenous was just that badass. Anybody who saw that show at Hampton Beach casino years ago would agree. Sorry :(

More Indigenous please. Variety by them! Many here in South Dakota haven't heard of them. Including natives. Native friend at work is one. She listens now.
Heavy, heavy Kenny Wayne sound. Love it! Makes me want to go outside, stomp my feet and punch a tree. Just saying....

Big Sky Music!!! I drop their CD into the player on my Harley & hit the open road........Time disappears & its @ that moment that the true meaning of Freedom & a Free soul comes into sharp focus. Thank you so much my native american brothers & sisters!!!

If you like them you might also like Robby Robertson (Mohawk and formerly of The Band).

Bio is a little off...Horse is Wambdi, Pte and Mato's cousin. They have gone through many line up changes of late with Mato carring on the name Indigenous. Saw the family band at least 12 times and with others 2 twice...Mato is amazing live!
They're here in Denver at a small club next week. $20, can't beat it. Seen them twice before. Mato is extremely talented, and I like him best of any of Jimi/SRV imitators or clones. Long live the Lakota!
wow, the lead sounds like Hendrix and SRV...just heard the title cut of Indigenous...hot licks and great blues. Gotta find some more of this family band!
Seen these guys open for Johnny Lang at the Coronado Theater in Rockford Ill. i want to say 1998? maybe 1999. Took a limo. It was a concert I will never forget!! The Coronado is like a mini Carnigie Hall!! I have been to a lot of blues fests ect. It was a really good show.
