Sneaker Pimps founding member Chris Corner began performing as the drippingly seductive electro-pop persona IAMX in 2003. Adopting the trappings of mid-'80s electro-pop and new wave acts like New Order, the Cure, and Depeche Mode with his pounding, reverb-swathed, synth-washed compositions, Corner's work as IAMX represented a notable departure from his work with the Sneaker Pimps. His first full-length as IAMX, Kiss & Swallow, was released on Recall in 2004; the sophomore IAMX album, The Alternative, followed on Major two years later. Both albums featured a dark, vampirish sensibility and dealt with topics like alternative sexuality and drug use. ~ Margaret Reges, Rovi
I would highly suggest anyone waiting for Volatile Times as a DL stop waiting and just order the CD. I paid only $24 import (w/shipping) and it was well worth it. The album is 10 steps up musically (the symphonic and lyrical aspects are amazing) from anything Corner's done so far and shows an increasing social consciousness, if that was even possible: he was so conscious already...
I suppose you have to listen to understand the Fan base. I'm certainly a fan, that's all that matters! Chris is an amazing artist! A contemporary version of Depeche Mode but better (And I LOVE Depeche Mode STILL!) XOXO
Who wrote than nonsense 'review'? Their publicist? A groupie? Reads more like a press release. If that sneering, bratty vocal delivery is 'drippingly seductive', then I'm clearly living in Bizarro world.
