Vocalist Michael Crafter (also of Carpathian), guitarists Jona Weinhofen and Kevon Cameron, bassist Sean Kennedy, and drummer JJ formed the ingeniously named I Killed the Prom Queen in Adelaide, Australia, in 2003. Their Choose to Live or Die EP followed shortly afterward, and 2004 saw the release of their debut long-player, When Goodbye Means Forever, which featured an emotive and melodic amalgam of hardcore and heavy metal made popular by American bands such as Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall. Their follow-up, Music for the Recently Deceased, hit stores at home in July 2006, and after the guys inked a deal with Metal Blade Records, the label issued the record in North America that November. Early the next year, Crafter jumped ship to become the new vocalist for Boston-based Bury Your Dead, as the band also lost Weinhofen to California's Bleeding Through. Unable to find suitable replacements, I Killed the Prom Queen called it quits in 2007 following a final tour of Australia. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
theyre not screamo, their type of growls catorgerize them as metalcore. post hardcore makes sense aswell. i dont see why it makes such a difference what type of genre a certain band is, just listen to the damn music and love it.
"Screamo" is an industry term for 'post-hardcore' for bands like Alesana. I killed the prom queen is NOT "Screamo" any band that screams is NOT "screamo"...
wow guys,do you even know anything about music? this is not screamo or emo... screamo/emo music is that little girly crap where they are crying while writing their lyrics about their dead or past girlfriends and the fact that no one likes their emo/scene hair. this is good old fashioned metal/metalcore, kiddies.
end of argument.
btw, to all the haters, this band is the band where parkway drive got their influences & sounds from. and if you hate them too, then you need to just stop commenting,
jesus. don't malign the good name of screamo. these boys are emo. pure and simple. saw them live in wilmington nc years ago....actually, i think my band opened for them. hair metal from australia i thought. but, the beer was free, so i stayed. people got down to our s**t. there was NO pit to them. none whatsoever. i call it hair metal because they were so pretty and posed a lot. the 'rock' never really happened. f**k em....
this has seriously got to be the worst band name ever. i mean their is alot of gimmicky music out there. but this is pretty high on the list. it's so trendy and full of fail.
who cares if they are hardcore or any thing they are awsome and theres no reason to label them its music that is awsome and amazing i thot that metal was suppose 2 be a escpe from being labeled and here u guys are labeling them just shut up and listen!
i don't like how Ed Rivadavia failed to mention Ed butcher who is most likely their most popular vocalist, above Crafter even. Not just my personal opinion but many others as well, come on Ed R. get it together
Ok for people who want them to get back together i dought they will becuase Bury Your Dead and Bleeding Through are very good bands and i dont think they will leave there bands becuase they are both doing good!!! but who knows
i would love for them to get back together

Sucks that they broke up i wanted to see them so bad live!!!!
this needs an update, jonah still part-times wit IKTPQ, they got back together after touring for a year in Oz with Crafter who came back temporarily, and they now have a new vocalist. They have yet to record a new album with said vocalist. the article also had nothing to say about ed butcher who was their vocalist for the "Music For The Recently Deceased" album, and toured to promote it.

*and metalcore is the s**t
i would love for them to get back together
-- Oh yea, they're good, too.
Personally, this kinda stuff is too generic for me. Most "core" bands are.
