Raised in NY and migrated to Cali in the late 60's--I also haunted the Lighthouse-- a n d loved East and West coast jazz equally. Also caught sets at "Concerts." Thanks for the great jazz and memories Howard. God bless.

Howard Rumsey, still with us and doing well for 92 appears in a DVD that is out Jazz On The West Coast The Story Of The Lighthouse, not enough can be said about this kind and gracious Gentleman of Jazz who has said that Stan Kenton was the Father of us All (Kenton Alumni). I have told him before as is his humbleness, downplaying his role in the importance of Jazz, particularly what is known as West Coast Jazz that he is the Uncle of Us All then!! (Jazz Musicians). I haunted the Lighthouse back in the late 60'. Redondo Beach was home to some of the original beat kids...I wasn't one. I had recently left the San Diego P. D. to take a better paying job in the aerospace industry and was commuting weekly between L. A. and home. The Lighthouse was for a time my home away from home.
