Australian hip-hop outfit the Hilltop Hoods formed in Adelaide in 1993. MCs Suffa and Pressure met as classmates at Blackwood High School, recruiting DJ Next through a mutual friend. While inspired by American conscious rap icons like Public Enemy and KRS-One, the Hilltop Hoods took their name from the Hilltop, the nickname given the suburb where Suffa and Pressure were raised, and rapped in broad Aussie accents; their debut EP, Back Once Again, appeared in 1997, and two years later the trio issued their first full-length effort, A Matter of Time. Upon completing the album, DJ Next relocated to Sydney, and with the addition of DJ Debris, the Hilltop Hoods recorded 2001's Left Foot, Right Foot. Its 2003 follow-up, The Calling, was the group's commercial breakthrough, becoming the first Australian hip-hop LP to achieve gold status. With 2006's chart-topping The Hard Road, the Hilltop Hoods also notched their first Australian Top 40 hit single, "Clown Prince." ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
Aussie Hip-Hop is very difficult to get here in the states :( I got very lucky when I found a copy of A-Loves' Ace of Hearts for an affordable price on eBay. But ya know the US isn't the main market for this pure fire :(
Sojourn is prolly one of the best rap songs i've ever heard and ironically MC Suffa does the whole thing. In most of their songs i like Pressure's flows but Suffa killed it in this one. Overall they're very excellent and one of my fav. rap artists of all time
State of the Art album, not a bad song on it. Plus you can "sleep like a starfish", don't forget "Chase that Feeling!" Rhymes with actually flow and knowledge.

add state of the art. best cd I've heard in awhile.
Nuff Respek to the Hoods. Wish they were on iTunes. I'd buy their entire anthology like it was no big deal. These dudes are legit.

foreign rap is always so much better than this bullshit we've been putting out the last few years. we need a return to constructive lyrics, like the hip hop of old. mad ups to these dudes jam "Breathe"
nheaddentamuc - check out Amazon's marketplace - you can usually find a distributer out of Australia that will sell you the CD at a non-stupid price - it just takes longer to ship. I picked up The Hard Road for 20 bucks and 2.50 shipping about a month back...
