Hilary Stagg

Stagg was working as an electrician when he heard Swiss harp sensation Andreas Vollenweider in concert. At that moment, the Northern California native was inspired to learn all he could about the electro-acoustic harp. A few years later, he was releasing his own albums, using his knowledge as an electrician to amplify his instrument to suit the soft, dreamy music he was developing. Stagg also credits the sweet melodic stylings of Loggins & Messina, the Doobie Brothers, and the Moody Blues as influences. I am so happy I stumbled upon Hilary's music almost 2 decades ago. I take one of my Hilary CDs with me when I get a massage and have it played. It adds so much more relaxation to the massage. And when traffic is horrible, I create my own place of peace inside my car by listening to Forever. I am sad that we will never have anymore music from Hilary. But, I know there is one awesome angel playing a harp in heaven. :)

My daughter introduced Hilary's music to me many years ago, and I fell in Love with it immediately, his music has become a big part of my life especially when I want to relax, when I was a night time counselor for the young women's troubled youth center, I would play this music when then went to bed, and all the girls would tell me to turn it up, now I wonder why that was. Hilary Stagg is definitely a man. I met him many years ago at a Whole Life Expo in Los Angeles. He was a welder by trade and he looked the part. Very rugged with rugged thick skinned hands. Amazing that he could handle a harp so magnificentl y . I love his sound.
When Hilary plucked his harp strings, he pulled, gently on, and taught new melodies to, my heart strings. Agree with so many who say he is greatly missed. Yet, we are fortunate that his spirit abides when we listen to his music.
First heard Hilary's music in a store in New Hope Penn.15 years ago. The sound just transported me to another time and place- but I don't know where or when. When i asked the owner of the store where he got the casset tape he was playing he directed me to a nearby store where I bought my 1st 2 tapes. Then, when the cd's came out i bought them all as well. I've been a fan of Hilary since I discovered his 1st cd.... just wish hed put out more material.
This is the first time I heard his music. I love the dreamy sound, makes me remember when I was young.
All I can say is WOW, his music blows me away! I have always enjoyed the sound of a harp but not until hearing his harp did I realize how very much I love this instrument. I cannot live without it now! How fateful and ironic his personal story is, I am so sad that he is gone...
