Traditional power metal band Hibria hails from Brazil's southernmost major city of Porto Alegre, where they dwelled in relatively obscurity since as early as 1996, the odd demo tape offering the only proof of their existence. Well good things come to those who wait, apparently, as by the release of the group's debut album, Defying the Rules, in 2004, vocalist Iuri Sanson, guitarists Diego Kasper and Abel Camargo, bassist Marco Panichi, and drummer Sávio Sordi had refined their talents to a razor-sharp point, making it one of the most universally praised power metal debuts of the year. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
Pandora seems to be failing to inform you that they also released The Skull Collectors. That's the second album that was released. Nothing in comparison to Defying the Rules but all around a nicely polished album full of speedy thrashy goodness.
rarely do i find a band that stands out among the rest. Almost reminds me of the first time hearing stratovarius or dream theater. Glad to see there are still some great power metal bands out there that i have yet to listen to.
Yeah that's one thing i hate about living in the States the music sucks. Why can't more Americans have better taste in music instead of this goddamn rap s**t and our so called alternative scene which blows. This stuff right here kicks a**!!
Their fan base is in Brazil, which is where they are from. My guess is you live in the states like I do. They are extremely popular over there from what I can tell, but they have yet to make their way into the US scene. Even if they did, they are a power metal band. And being a power metal band that is popular in the mainstream media is like being a yuppie that attended woodstock. Lol It is just unheard of for good music to be "popular". Because popular means s**t, and Hibria is not s**t. lol
I've spoken with Abel Camargo over myspace. He is a totally rad motherf**ker. I keep bugging him to do a tour in the US, and it seems like they might so if they do you all can thank me. :)
Loved these guys from the opening chords to the end of the song "living under ice", Heavy and Melodic with a vocalist that can soar with the best of em. It's like Helloween meets Angra and they have a kid and call it Hibria.
