Munich, Germany's Heaven Shall Burn specialize in highly controversial and politicized death metal fused with hardcore; a hybrid style often referred to as death-core. Combining their militant defense of social concerns (racism, corruption, animal cruelty, veganism, etc.) with a seemingly boundless metallic wrath, the group's brutalizing sonic onslaught has drawn comparisons to traditional death metal bands like England's Bolt Thrower, as well as the less regimented, but equally emphatic work of Sweden's the Haunted. Founded by guitarist Maik Weichert and drummer Matthias Voigt in the fall of 1996, Heaven Shall Burn (initially named Consense) soon also included singer Marcus Bischoff and bassist Eric Bischoff. Following a set of demos, the band recorded a 1998 mini-CD entitled In Battle There Is No Law (reissued on CD with bonus tracks in 2002) and a split L.P with Fall of Serenity before welcoming second guitarist Patrick Schleitzer into their lineup. Signing with Lifeforce Records in early 2000, they subsequently unleashed the very competent Asunder album, as well as another split CD (this one with Caliban) and proceeded to tour both Europe and South America. 2002 saw the release of another acclaimed effort, and their first to gain worldwide distribution, Whatever It May Take, after which the group signed with Century Media and cut their third full-length album, Antigone, in 2004. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
I don't think Heaven Shall Burn even means they hate/like/believe whatever the heck you think. To me I just picture one of the dudes at a restaurant table saying Heaven Shall Burn sounds like a pretty good band.. AND THAT WAS FRIGGIN IT!!! God ruin the comment feed for everyone that just wanted there opinion on the music up there.
To Marsall Bass the band 's name is referring to the apocalypse, as in our own heaven on earth shall burn, or die away. Can't remember where i found that, but thats actually a paraphrased version of a quote from michael bishcoff himself.
they aren't athiest. they're strictly a political band. just like it says in the bio. the name of the group could be meant to be ironic or sarcastic towards something. im not sure i have my theories on the matter.
ive been looking for so long for bands that are similar to these guys but the only thing that comes close to these guys is neaera sucks no one else has this kind of music style
Come on Pandora, bring on Antigone! Although Invictus was a bit disappointing...still some killer metal though...greatest mosh pit producing band ever...
so misunderstood.who gives a flying f**k about their beliefs.get a job...like your dad says every morning...wtf-i'm on the side of the judgemental !

Their name has nothing to do with their beliefs. They borrowed it because they though it sounded cool. "Heaven" refers to a safe place you make up in your mind... as in the place you go to escape will burn. I am not siding one way or the other but what gives you the right to judge someones beliefs.
great band, even better band name...idiot christians don't even bother to look deeper into the genius these guys possess...they could do with a little less tremelo lol...still good sh*t though...

This is quite possibly the BEST band in terms of "Death-core" . They have meanings behind every song, they are amazing live as they are on CD, and they love their fans as much as we love them. (I met them before in Munich, Germany.) Simply put, INCREDIBLE band. Haters GTFO now or I will cut you.
