Hamilton Loomis

Texas guitarist Hamilton Loomis was born and raised in Galveston, TX. Having come from a musical family, Loomis developed numerous skills as a multi-instrumentalist, learning drums, piano, guitar, and harmonica as an adolescent. By the age of 14, Loomis began writing, arranging, and performing his own material. He formed a vocal group consisting of family members and was playing prestigious gigs like the Delta Blues Festival. During his early years on the road Loomis met and was mentored by such legendary blues figures as Bo Diddley, Johnny Copeland, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, and Albert Collins. In 1994 he released his first disc, Hamilton, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Album of the Year. Just Gimme One Night was his second release, followed in 2000 by both All Fired Up and Live: Highlights. Also in 2000, Loomis utilized his acting ability by accepting the role of Trevor in the VH1 original movie At Any Cost. Upon signing with Blind Pig Records the guitarist released his first disc for the label, Kickin' It, in 2003, followed by a second, Ain't Just Temporary, in 2007. ~ Al Campbell, Rovi

Saw the band for the first time last night at Willie's, all of the band members are awesome. And Hamilton remembers to pass on the love of music...he got down and played with the Air Guitarists in the bunch. Some day a hot picker will say, I wanted to be just like Hamilton. Thank you, young man, for sharing your talent and your love of the music. Be safe out there, Too many Wests and Swifts out there that don't have talent. This band is definitely gifted!!

I think Ham and Stevie Ray are somehow related. Man, this guy can play!! I've seen the band live twice the past 6 months, it only gets better. Stratton is amazing on sax. Ryan Cortez is an awesome drummer. Kent Beatty is the best bass player I've been around. This is a can't miss show whenever you see them coming to play near you.

A friend just "Liked" Hamilton on Facebook so I looked up his web site and looked here for his music. I know his dad Mike Loomis (is that Mike L. in an earlier post?) but don't really know Hamilton but have sort of watched his growth as a musician over the years. I am not a blues fan in general but I am trying to cultivate a little more tolerance since he's a Galveston native, has one of the best success stories around & from all accounts is a nice guy.

You guys should have Hamilton's latest album LIVE IN ENGLAND. Stratton Doyle just like Patrick M says is the best young sax man I have heard in 20 years.

My cousin Stratton who plays the saxophone is awesome. He isn't on this cd, he is on the one "Live in England" The band is also just really good. My wife and I just started to listen to them early this year and every time they are in town or near Houston, we go.

Hamilton is a super nice guy. I've meet him on several occasions and even chatted with him on the old, original Napster. I used to brew my own beer and I traded him some of my brew for an autographed T-shirt. Hamilton, if you're out there,
I'll always be a fan- The Pie Man

Hamilton played at my wedding over 9 years ago - I still have people comment to this day that I had the best wedding reception ever (of course it was due to the fantastic band). He is an incredible performer! It was a wonderful surprise to have him 'sneak' into my Pandora station... I was just groovin' along to No No No and had to find out who it was... Mr. Hamilton Loomis of course!

Started with more traditional blues background, but over the years has defined his own sound. Majority of songs are originals. Live shows are a lot of fun. He is a very talented musician who plays not only guitar, but bass, drums, keyboards and blues harp. He's played with a lot of greats over the years and has leaned lessons for sure. He and his band are constantly on tour.

Good sound, hard to trace/define in terms of he sounds different than his roots would suggest. So, it is a cool surprise, when you actually research him.
