Hail Social

Philadelphia's Hail Social features Davye Hawk (vocals/guitar), Matt Maraldo (drums), Dan Henry (bass), and Richie Roxas (guitar). The roots of the indie rock foursome took hold when Hawk and Maraldo befriended one another at work. Both were eager to start making music, but the reserved, self-conscious Hawk was reluctant to share his years of songwriting with a single audience. After a bit of nagging and encouragement, Hawk and Maraldo set up shop for what would become Hail Social. With Henry and Roxas in tow, Hail Social recorded four demos and a 7" prior to joining producer Brian McTear (matt pond PA, Lefty's Deceiver, the Trouble with Sweeney) for the recording of their debut album. The self-titled effort was issued on Polyvinyl in summer 2005 and captured a catchy dance sound similar to the likes of Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party. Tours with the Secret Machines and Interpol followed into the fall. The band's sophomore album, a disco-tinged effort called Modern Love & Death, was released two years later. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi

This band is sweet.
If you guys insist on comparisons, Phoenix seems most apt.
They're a very good band, and both of there current albums- and the one they're making right now are each shaping up to be unique from each other. The only thing about the band is that, lyrically, they haven't changed a whole lot since they first came about, bit I'm hoping that they'll wise up. As it is they're one of my favorite bands.

I've never really liked comparing one band to another even if the sounds are similiar. I always veiwed that as a throw back to cookie cutter 80's music and their fans. Once the music world was shocked by the lack of a formula that could be capitalised they created one. So this band sounds like that band became a popular way to reference work. Hey if you like this song you might like this one by these guys.

I like Hail Social's Paralyzed but that's the only song I've heard all the way thro
well compared sai.dholakia ! rockin, dancin foot tap'n good fun.
